Not only did we feel welcomed, we made new friends. Elizabeth is amazing and accommodating. She makes you feel at home and if you had forgotten something I bet she has it! I went to look for rocks and I was not disappointed!! Also Aj the caretaker was great! He delivered wood to our campsite, bathrooms were tending to daily, showers were hot and clean and always had a friendly smile. If looking for a family atmosphere, this is the place that you should definitely visit! Justin and I had an absolute wonderful time and will be going back with family and friends.
We stayed at this campground hoping for a quiet, relaxing weekend getaway, but the experience didn’t match our expectations. The property itself is lovely, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. One of the other campers even cooked meals for everyone, which was a nice touch. However, a few important details were missing from the Airbnb listing that impacted our stay. We were under the impression that there were only three yurts on the property, but there were many more campers (30), and we could hear everyone’s conversations from our site. This made it difficult to enjoy the peace and quiet we were hoping for. Additionally, the two free-roaming farm dogs, along with dogs from other guests, created a stressful situation for us, as we brought our own dogs, one of whom is reactive. While the staff offered to keep the farm dogs put up, this didn’t happen consistently, and the other dogs from visitors wandered into our campsite. We ended up leaving the reactive pup in the vehicle for a majority of our stay which we cut short because of the stress levels. This place may be a great fit for people who enjoy a lively, social atmosphere, but it wasn’t the relaxing, tranquil retreat we were looking for. If the tents were further apart, this likely would have negated a lot of the issues for us.
I loved visiting this place. I will go again. I was there to find Druzy quarts. Its not really a matter of finding it, it is how many buckets should I take home. You could literally "throw a rock" and find druzy or lace agate, even both! Elizabeth and AJ are both super friendly and helpful. This mine caters to all levels of rockhounding. The property is mostly trees and is not a "strip mine", so expect to move the leaves and some brush aside to find the good stuff. Dont ignore the tiff pits tailig piles, I found some really good stuff there. If you go in the summer, bring bug spray, and use a lot of it. Ticks are the natural human predator. If you are nice, AJ may power wash your finds, and if the spot he shows you yeilds some good finds, tip him as a guide. Elizabeth also has several tents set up for people to sleep in and lots of space to bring your own. They also have Ice and Propane available for sale.
We loved this place so much, I nearly didn't leave a review. But, they deserve every star. Truly kind people who touched our souls, and the property is amazing. Great facilities yet, still very rustic and cozy.
We spent 2 nights here. We didn't have much time to explore and enjoy all the things they offer but the host was kind and our camping neighbors were helpful when we arrived super later in the night. We look forward to visiting again with our children and taking time to explore. Also the farm animals were all pretty awesome.
