I did the white oaks trail one week and then the full whispering pines trail the following week in early October 2024. They should just close the white oak trail in my opinion, the views aren’t great and the trail isn’t maintained very well/ the path is very small for some reason. The whispering pines trail on the other hand is easily one of the best hikes in Missouri. The Pine trees transport you to the north west without having to compromise on weather. Great overlooks, fun but challenging hills and cliffs, and then at the southern most point is a serene stream and cool area to relax. I can’t wait to be back.
I love this park. Beautiful scenery, gorgeous trails through the woods and bluffs, and trails available for all difficulty. With the creek that runs through it, this is probably one of my favorite places in all of Missouri!
The campgrounds were really nice and clean. I went on one trail and loved it. It's a very scenic and peaceful place. I plan to go back in the very near future to camp and explore more trails!
While on vacation with family, one of our stops was Hawn State Park. We ate lunch here, and explored a little bit. Before leaving, we drove through the campground which was clean and quiet. We decided next year our camping destination was definitely going to start or end at Hawn State Park.
Went to Hawn state park October 14, 2023. Had a great time hiking the pickle creek trail, the trail was well marked. I got to see cool rock formations, giant boulders and small waterfalls and cascades. I see why a lot of people like this park. I’ll have to come back here to do the whispering pine trail. Highly recommend visiting!
