My husband and I spent a week at Hay Creek and enjoyed every minute of it!! The cabins were very clean and well stocked with the essentials. The grounds were well kept and everything looked very tidy. The hosts greeted us on the first day, helped us unload and cleaned out our trailer. They often checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. We got to meet then new owners and they were very kind and welcoming and seemed very dedicated to making us all feel at home. The trails took us on many great adventures with some amazing views. Over all, it was a wonderful experience!! We left with a million great memories and some irreplaceable new friends!!
Hay Creek Ranch, Nemo, SD is a wonderful place to bring your horses and enjoy the beauty of the Black Hills. The scenery is full of trees, creeks, wildlife and rock formations along with plenty of blue sky. Accommodations for horse and human alike were clean and very well kept, as was the whole camp. Plenty of room and easy access for trailers. We stayed in one of the cabins with all the amenities and it was cute, very clean and comfortable. We loved it! Camp Managers, Dan and Linda, were the best we have ever encountered! They were so kind and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We were truly pampered! They were informative and knowledgeable of the area, which made riding the trails very interesting. Can't wait to go back!
Don't trust the owner of this place or her friends/people who get their paychecks signed by her. Keep reading to find out why. I've been to Hay Creek Ranch multiple times while under the management of Ami and Willie. I've always been amazed at how much they put into running that camp. They worked sunrise to sunset to ensure their campers had an amazing experience. All the campers I talked to loved their experience there, especially Ami helping them get the GPS set up on their phones before they head out on the trails. Ami and Willie have been dealing with major medical concerns over the past 6 months. They've been focusing on getting healthy so they could continue running the camp they loved. In waltz the new camp hosts (well, now camp managers I guess) Dan and Linda. These 2 gems saw an opportunity to weasel their way into Ami and Willie's position while they dealt with their health. Cindy, the owner, decided she was done with Ami and Willie and served them an eviction notice the same day Willie was having major heart surgery. While he was recovering in the hospital she had her son steal their dog Dollar and bring him back to Minnesota. Classy, right? Cindy if you're reading this my offer to bring Dollar back to his actual owners still stands. You know he doesn't actually belong to you. Prove to me you still have some sort of decency left. As far as Cindy running successful businesses in Minnesota I'd ask you to rethink that. She's being fined $45,000 for providing kickbacks for real estate agents. Cindy's own sister had to sue her in order to get the money Cindy owed her. The sister won by the way. I personally wouldn't support this business as long as Cindy is the owner. When people show you who they are, believe them. *****Response added in photos 9/23/24. Owner is threatening to sue over Google reviews*****
Hay creek horse camp is the best place I have went trail riding trails are great any terrain you want to ride The hospitality back at the horse camp is second to none Dan and Linda do a great job managing yet and are very hospitable. They show you great hospitality. You can’t ask for a better place to go to find new friends and have a good time I would like to thank Dan and Linda for the hospitality. They showed us and the new friends we met It was the best time while we stayed there couldn’t ask for anything better thank you
Dan and Linda met me at the entrance, cleaned out my horse trailer and offered my choice of pens for my horse. The covered pens were clean, water buckets, water faucet and hose, manure forks, wheelbarrows and the manure disposal bin were all conveniently provided and close. They helped me level my trailer and get set up as I needed. Dan led us on a ride which was beautiful and he shared his vast knowledge and stories about the area. The camp was beautiful, clean, well maintained, and quiet. There's a round pen available for use, and several gates to go out into the forest.
If I could give this place 10 stars I would! My first time there this year and I will definitely be back. Linda and Dan were incredible, helping clean my trailer, and walking my dog while I was getting set up in a campsite. Ami made sure I was camped close to my friends in their cute and cozy cabin and Willie helped level my rig! This place is incredibly clean, from the grounds, to the bath houses and the office. The trails were beautiful, with some being easy and others quite technical. It is dog friendly with an abundance of forest access trails just outside the campground where you can take your dogs for long hikes off leash. We had a fabulous time and will definitely be back! Thank you, Linda, Dan, Ami and Willie for your hospitality and willingness to help when needed. Regards, Vickie
We had a wonderful site with Cabin W. The horse trailer was close and the horses were nearby. The staff followed us to our site to be sure we got settled correctly. They offered to level our trailer and they cleaned all the manure out of the trailer for us, a welcome treat after the long drive in. They brought us new bales of hay immediately. The manure pile was close which made it easy to keep the pens clean. A big bucket was supplied for the horse water. The hose had an on and off switch at the bucket end which was very convenient. The mattress in the cabin was amazing. The cabin was very clean and the kitchen was supplied with the basics. Where we were, there were almost no flies and I did not see a single moth, a plus. Ami downloaded the trails via Gaia to our phones and then went over which trails would be the best for us. It was lovely and green when we were there with an over abundance of daisies and other flowers. It was amazing.
