Very nice campground, well maintained, nice groomed trails leading to great view of the lake. They even have a picnic table down by the water.
Nice section of the campground. Stayed at #32 and there was plenty of shade. Bathrooms were clean, hiking trails were good and the campground was clean and quiet at night. Short walk to the beach at Wamplers. Dog friendly!
Nice location for a weekend trip not too far from home. Great beach and good fishing! Nice walking/hiking trails! It's a bit "busy" at the water/electric sites (1-10) as they are at the entrance to the West Loop.
Not a great experience. I won't be returning. Stayed there with family to attend a family reunion. It happened to be on a race weekend and the campground was FULL. Rude campers drinking and screaming until 5am. Every night and morning you could here someone was throwing up in the mens bathroom. During the day letting children run around unsupervised. I found a child trying to get into my tent. Everyone walked through my campsite You have to drive to the beach Playground is a set of swings. There is a bigger playground by the beach but it's too far to be useful. Not great for tent camping. Not enough green area per site to setup a tent. Even though it says the site is for a tent. Not enough bathrooms and showers. It rained and I witness sites under water.
Loved this camping trip!! 2 nights of storms only to wake with no power. 24 hours and still no power when we left, not the camp grounds fault!! Rangers continually drove through to make sure everyone was OK. The staff did a great job cleaning up limbs and branches everywhere. Only bad part... 1 outhouse for everyone in the camp. It was truly the worst smelling thing ever. The campground was pretty quiet and peaceful, considering how many kids were there. The lake was so relaxing and tranquil!! Great place to camp!!! We will definitely go back!!
Camped here in our pop up on the west loop for the first time. Love the area and didn't realize there was such a great campground with such amazing surrounding area, so close to home. We will be back many times over the summer to camp or even just come for the day and enjoy nature and do some fishing.
