I've been coming here for decades. It's always been one of my favorite inland lake campgrounds. They've done a lot to refresh it while maintaining it's peaceful charm. My kiddos appreciated the addition of swings and the playground. I hesitate to write a glowing review, I want it to stay mostly hidden from the public eye, but they deserve the praise.
Nice quiet little northern Michigan lake. Boat launch is decent, a little bumpy, but manageable. It is concrete but just seems a little rough. Otherwise it's a great lake with decent fishing and little traffic, it is a no wake lake so that keeps the non-fishing crowd away. Good lake for canoes, and kayaks. The dirt launch on the North end of the lake is very convenient for small boats and carry in launching.
Camped here for three days during the third week in July. It is a State Forest campground run by Springvale Township. Campsites are all quite large and level with a mix of sunny or shady ones to choose from. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. They kept the vault toilets clean and as bug free as one could hope for. Only drawback is very loud noise from the Northern Michigan Dragway about a mile south of the lake. Would recommend checking their schedule and avoiding this campground when there are night time events.
Quiet Campground / Rustic but clean. We'll be back!
Love this place. A day of enjoyment with the family is the best.
