Beautiful views, clean bathrooms, friendly hosts. We were there during snow and freezing temps, so we didn't get out much, but the view was breathtaking!
Great, helpful staff! They offered us tape when our tent stake broke. Great service! Amazing views, stream access. Clean restrooms, wifi! Sites not by the stream have no trees (gets hot in summer) and are more desert-like. Streamside sites are shaded and groomed. Highly recommend!
This campground is remote. Few amenities, basic. Sites are close together, tight for big rigs. Low water pressure (from a well). They tell you to "run your water pump," but don't! You'll ruin it. Beautiful views, friendly people. Expensive for what you get. Lots of new rules not listed online or in handouts. I would have rated it lower, but the views are nice, the workers are friendly, and it was cheaper than the other campground in Salida.
We stay in 100 parks a year, and this one is not worth it. Another park (Spur) up the road is wonderful. We arrived late due to a mudslide. Instead of instructions, a man met us and acted like he was doing us a favor. We had a reservation for later this summer but canceled it. They refused to waive the $10 cancellation fee. Treated us like an annoyance. Not worth it.
Almost no shade! Heart of the Rockies is a very nice park. Free and clean restrooms/showers. Pay laundry. Level site (even though the park is on a hillside). Close hookups, nice fire ring and picnic table. Wood and ice available at reasonable prices. Friendly staff! They saved our vacation after another campground messed up our reservation. The rude guy is apparently gone (new management). We spoke to a very nice lady, and the maintenance person was also very cordial.
