We drove through loop B looking for a pull-through site for the night. Loop B has no hookups. A nice couple had just taken the last pull-through but with the help of the host, they volunteered to move to the next site. They were tent camping. Sweet family. Hostess was helpful and friendly. Water available across from our site along with pit restroom. We could not level without getting out the blocks so we stayed unleveled. Paved sites with picnic table and bear proof storage. The puppy and I walked to Dillon Reservoir several times. Beautiful, peaceful, relaxing.
Fantastic place to camp in Silverthorne. Small hike in from parking area to campsites but worth it! Also, quick access into town for essentials. Pics and video are from site 44, which has easy lake access. It fills fast, so book early. There are places where you can hang a hammock. Make use of the bear proof storage for food and toiletries. Overall, I love this spot and look forward to going again soon.
Camped here with our pop up the weekend after Labor Day. This was our first time at Heaton Bay . Enjoyed having a paved pad that helped decrease the dirt and dust, a bear locker and table and fire pit that were all in very good condition. It is nicely packed with trees to provide privacy between sites but trees aren't large enough to provide a ton of shade. Not a problem as the temps were perfect and in the 70's during the day. The location is great. Central in Summit County, close to Frisco, Dillon and Breckenridge and obviously Lake Dillon. The bathrooms om our loop were incredibly cleaned and did not smell at all. One drawback that no one mentions in reviews is that loop C, specifically sites 31-37 back up against the road that goes into the campground. Dillion Damn Road backs up against this road and then I70 is just a stones throw away. You hear a lot of road traffic from most of this campground but even more so from these sites. We had to put on a sound machine to drown out the highway noise at night. You can also see the entrance road through the trees from sites 31, 32 (our site) and 33 which are noted in the photos.
Excellent location and very neat clean campground … camp in charge couple were very sweet and helpful. Almost all locations are thickly forested thus giving ample privacy.
We absolutely loved this campground! The mountains with the reservoir made for stunning photos. It was quiet and the campsite was super nice. I loved that it came with massive bear lockers as well! The bathrooms were super nice, especially being for being vaulted, but the hosts kept up with them every day! And speaking of, the hosts were super sweet folks and made sure if we needed anything. A really great time was had and I hope to go back sometime!
