Had a lovely night tenting here on Canada day weekend. Excellent host who checked on us a couple of times in the evening and was always on call to help us out. Once the renovations are finished I've no doubt this campsite will get nothing but 5 stars from everyone.
Would not stay here again. The place is in a state of disarray. Wish they would clean up., junk all around. Nice people but everything is half done. I realize they are in the middle of a “remodel” but jeez it’s going to b forever. It’s a1 man show! Kind of grubby but the junk around is unacceptable. The laundry was 1 washer & 1 dryer! Lots of exposed electrical and open walls. The Monte lake Rv park is the place. Sorry but I’m honest! Try something else.
Monte Lake is a great lake for fishing and and rock hounding and has a few areas you can hang out for some water fun. To stay there overnight, you’ve got a couple choices, with one being Heritage RV campground. The owner was not terribly tech friendly, in that I had to call to make a reservation a couple months before and then call to confirm the night before. I was told to come anytime, and site 31 would be free. It wasn’t. About 80% of this campground is home to long term rentals, and weekend campers like ourselves get what’s left. Luckily, they found us a site. It was ok,, with Sani, electrical and water for $40 a night. Not a bad view over the road to the lake. Unfortunately, fires had ravaged the area the year before and it wasn’t the prettiest area, but it has its own charms. We did have a problem with Sani and daily pot smell wafting around the site, and some angry dogs fenced in by many of the rentals. I think the campground could do with some upgrading and reigning in the mess a bit. I will give props to the owner, who was quite nice.
