Hi-Tide Beach & Campground Introduce

Hi-Tide Beach & Campground, located in Leland, Illinois, offers a family-oriented camping experience with a variety of activities. However, customer reviews present a mixed picture, highlighting both positive and negative aspects of the campground.

Hi-Tide Beach & Campground offers the following features and services:

  • Family-Friendly Activities: The campground provides a range of activities suitable for families, including water activities and games.
  • Water Activities: Water activities are a popular attraction, with organized games by the water.
  • Games Area: The campground offers an area for games like cornhole, providing opportunities for friendly competition.
  • Friendly Staff: Many guests have praised the friendly and helpful staff, particularly the owners, Mary and Joe.
  • Bingo: The campground offers a fun bingo experience for kids and adults.

However, it is important to be aware of the following potential challenges:

  • Small Campsites: The campsites are described as very small, making parking and maneuvering difficult.
  • Stagnant Pond: The "lake" is described as a stagnant pond with unclean water.
  • Dirty Beach: The beach area has been reported to have garbage and broken glass.
  • Overflowing Trash: Garbage cans overflow quickly, leading to trash on the ground and unpleasant smells.
  • Limited and Paid Showers: The bathhouse has a limited number of showers that require quarters, and they are shared with the public.
  • Broken Facilities: Reports of broken fire rings and a broken pool handrail.
  • Noise Complaints: Quiet hours are not consistently enforced, leading to noise disturbances at night.
  • Difficult Dump Station: The dump station's location at the exit makes it difficult for large campers to maneuver.
  • Septic Issues: Reports of septic seepage and unpleasant odors.
  • Extra Fees: Unexpected extra fees for additional adults staying in a camper.

Guests have highlighted the family-friendly activities and the friendly staff as positive aspects. However, numerous concerns have been raised about the cleanliness, maintenance, and overall condition of the campground. The small campsites, stagnant pond, and overflowing trash are significant drawbacks. The broken facilities and noise complaints further detract from the experience. The unexpected extra fees and difficult dump station also contribute to negative feedback.

Hi-Tide Beach & Campground may be suitable for families seeking a fun-filled vacation with water activities and games. However, potential visitors should be aware of the reported cleanliness and maintenance issues. The small campsites and noise complaints may also impact the overall experience. While the staff is generally praised, the overall condition of the campground may not meet the expectations of all visitors.

Our family had an amazing time at this campground! It’s the perfect destination for a family-friendly vacation, with something for everyone to enjoy. The water activities were an absolute hit with the kids. There’s no shortage of fun on the water! They even had organized games by the water, which made it all the more enjoyable for the entire family. For those who love a bit of friendly competition, there’s also a great area for games like bags (cornhole) which we loved playing as a family in the evenings. The facilities were well-maintained, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. A special shout-out to Mary and Joe, the owners, who made our stay even more memorable! They truly go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and ensure that everything runs smoothly. Their personal touch and dedication to the campground really show. All in all, this campground provided the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, and we can’t wait to return!

Upon arrival we checked in and were told that we had to pay extra for 2 of the 4 adults staying in our camper. I don't mind paying this but when you call to make the reservation they should tell you how many people are included and how many pay extra. The campsites are so small that once you park your vehicle next to your camper(no room to leave it in front of it) you have barely any room left on your site. When you are trying to back into your spot you better hope the people camping across from you are at their site to move their vehicles otherwise you're not getting into it. The "Lake" is a stagnant pond, the water feels thick and doesn't look clean. The beach has garbage on it and there are chunks of glass, the garbage cans that are provided were overflowing by noon and trash was on the ground. The Bath house has 4 showers that require quarters and it's shared with the general public so good luck getting a shower. The bathroom and shower stalls are also hogged by the public to change in so you have to wait forever. The fire rings provided at the campsites are so rotted they are falling apart in pieces. Quiet time is 11pm, but even at midnight people have their music going and kids are running around screaming and playing. We arrived Friday evening and by Saturday at noon the dumpster in the campground was overflowing with trash on the ground and the smell was horrific. The pool had a safety handrail to grab when entering the water but it's broken so badly that it provides zero support, which would be a huge deal if the stairs weren't slimy and slippery. The water was cloudy and didn't seem to be from the chemicals because you couldn't smell any. The dump station is located at the exit making it difficult for anyone with a large camper to pull out when someone else is using the station. The septic also seemed to be seeping up through the ground and stunk horribly. The only positive was the way they do Bingo is fun for kids and adults alike. Our group made the best of it and had some fun, but out of 7 adults and 2 kids each person rated it a 2/10, would not return or recommend.

The customer service is amazing the lady at the front desk was the nicest lady I have ever met, she needs a raise. The cabins are very hot but there nice. The only part I don’t like is that you need to be 18+ for life vests. There is a lot of flies though and it kind of annoys me but it’s alright. They need a bit more floaties on the lake.

Not recommend this campground too expensive for small spot too close to each other too crowded plus they mentioned 2 tents allowed but you will see more than each spot and no number in the post make everybody confuseand wveything is mix up campers and RV in the same spot ,the water in pond is too dirty and even the pool they cannot maintain the place clean for that price you paying and another thing when you have a facility that has a swimming pool and pond of course you need to shower this place you need to put quarter just to take a shower Wow unbelievable. Not recommended.
