It is an adequate campground. Not especially exciting, but meets basic needs. Be prepared for golf carts everywhere all the time. The speed limit is not enforced and cars and golf carts travel way too fast throughout the camp. Quiet hours are also not enforced. May have just been a bad weekend full of people who don't follow the rules and only care about themselves. Ice cream was good and it was fun to pet the horses.
Stay far away. We booked the weekend and when we checked in the staff told us the wrong route to take to the campsite with the already narrow roads a dead leaning tree took out the awning. We set up and the next morning we asked one of the female employees about gate access when returning at night. She said to press the call button and we said nobody answered it. She said either park at the gate or just drive around on the grass. We then asked her about filling propane tanks and she advised us to go up to the main tank area fill our own propane and come back and tell them how many gallons. When we got there it was not a fill your own tank station so we called and verified and this was not the case. We spent the night at Hershey and upon returning at 11pm rang the gate and was hung up on. We backed up and began to turn onto the grass and was immediately yelled at to which we stopped and apologized and we’re doing what the girl said. Nope we were told to pack or shit and leave immediately. We had 30 minutes to get off the property. So in the pitch black we had to pack our camper and vacate based off what the employee told us. Well they didn’t want to hear it. Stay far away from the headache
We went to HIckory Run for the first time Memorial Day Weekend 2024. We found the staff to be very friendly, along with all the campers. The whole place seemed well maintained, and even with a ton of folks using the large pool it was extremely clean. We subsequently booked 2 more trips this season. The events for our grandson were great, especially creeking and the forgotten friends critter show. He absolutely fell in love with the rope swings. The only downside is this campground is not bike friendly. It is very hilly and has lots of loose gravel on the paths. That being said, you can easily walk anywhere on the property.
My pop-up doesn't have a bathroom, so having to go across the campground to go to the bathroom because the one nearest us was BOARDED UP, was a pain in the butt. Although the unlatchable 2x4 and plywood stalls were a classy touch. Bring some quarters if you need a shower. The pool was clean and the staff friendly. If you have your own facilities it's a decent place to sleep, if only for its location.
This has been our 3rd year camping at this location and could not be happier. Everyone is so nice and helpful. Especially the young girls in the office, ready to assist with a smile. The campsites are ample and clean. Pool is in the sun for that nice tan. Bathroom and showers are always clean. If you’re looking for a great campground I would recommend going here.
