Camp sites are nice but very crowded together. Trails are really cool and there is plenty of them. Boulder field is really cool. Worth checking out. Main office has a cool educational exhibit. Bathrooms and showers are decent. Except the bathroom by sites 71, 72. They do clean bathroom /showers daily but not very well. Camp store is ok at best. We did see a couple bears walk through our site which we were hoping to see. They just checked stuff out then left. Didn't bother any one.

Great State Park with a really nice campground. We recommend staying if you get the chance. It is a quick trip for us as we live local, but worth the visit no matter where you are from.

Amazing place!! We just loved it. It has many trails, waterfalls and many more places to visit. Honestly, didn’t like the bathroom in camp site and we ended up using the Hickory State park office. Over all we had a fabulous time and look forward to bringing more family and friends next time we visit.

*If you need a park ranger after hours because of NOISE DISTURBANCE at night: CALL 911 AND ASK FOR A PARK RANGER. This information is not anywhere but we were informed by a park ranger at their office that this is the only way to reach a park ranger when their office is close. * It's a shame but this isn't a family campground anymore. Unfortunately this place became a place for people to party all night long. Me and my family were there twice recently and both times we had problems with loud people partying all night. We didn't see one single park rager around day or night at the campground. From other reviews here you can see that this is a recurring issue that has not been addressed by the park management. My guess is that over time people that are there to camp with their children started to stay away from this place because you can't sleep at night due to the noise and people that like to party keep coming back as there is no reinforcement of the park rules. Allegedly you shouldn't be allowed to be loud after 10 pm but because it is not reinforced people just keep come to party all night. In my opinion this issue could be easily addressed and resolved. The park management could easily have signs at the main office reinforcing the noise ordinance, their website could have information about the noise ordinance and explain about reinforcement and park rangers could go around at night to patrol but unfortunately nothing is done by management. There is also no phone number to call and ask for a park ranger after their office is closed. After having to deal with several loud people partying until around 4 am, the next day we went to the office to talk to the rangers and only then we were informed that the only way to get a ranger after hours is to call 911 and ask for a park ranger. Why this information is not easily available on their website or office is unbelievable. It is like they do on purpose to not be bothered. So if you need a park rangers after hours CALL 911 AND ASK FOR A PARK RANGER. Unfortunately we had to call several times because as soon as the rangers left the campground the people would start partying and being loud again. Like I said before it is really a shame what this place has become and I would just avoid it.

Staff at the visitor center are outstanding. Sites vary in size. Some are close together, and others are large with much separation. It is very difficult to find the site size, separation from others, and distance from the bathroom on the reservation and park maps.
