Customer Reviews
A very pretty place. Only FOUR campsites with people coming in constantly. The OTVs love coming in and throwing dust at people. Then there are the ones with dogs, off leash males, who come into your camp and pee on everything...owners do not care. Let's not forget because it's FREE people think lawless. Nope...campground rules apply here just like a regulated campground but some people are just stupid and think anything goes. It can Feel very frustrating rather than relaxing. Luckily the forest service people stop by often and that brings comfort
This is a really nice, free campground. The lake is beautiful with tons of water beetles, nymphs, and dragonflys. There's also a nesting pair of loons in the lake serenading to one another dusk and dawn. You have to go past Placid to find it and it's not really marked. With that said, there was a family (12-15 people) who were insanely inconsiderate. They blasted their music while playing with hacky sacks and croquet - - both fairly low key activities. It sounded like the Super Bowl was going on. They were screaming and cheering over these mundane games well past quiet hours. They didn't quiet down even when they "settled" for the night. They kept their music going, screamed their stories to one another, and sang obnoxiously. Honestly, if any of you read this, buy your own private property and do that there. Don't go to a public camp ground and ruin it for everyone else. Our trip was great until you people showed up. We even cut our trip short because we didn't want to deal with any of you another night. You were a bunch of rude jerks.
It has potential. We were asking around about places to camp when we asked a local about this one. He said a few “squatters” and creepy people stay out there in older vehicles (rv’s, campers) and so on and told us it was not worth going too. We went anyways and yes he was right. Their are only a few spots and two was taken by what he described. One looked abandoned but wasn’t and they both looked like they lived rather there rather than staying for a period of time. It has a bathroom and the last spot was taken by a family camping. The view was decent and the road to here there had a few muddy potholes but wasn’t bad. We never stayed but would like too
Great free camping with vault toilets. Pretty off the beaten path and not a huge amount of spots from what we saw. Gorgeous gorgeous campground. Can't wait to go back.
It has been years since we've been here but still a pretty little lake. 3 camp sites so very private as well...on the camping list for next year.
