Hideout Canyon Boat-In Campground is ideal for campers seeking a unique boat-access experience and stunning views. However, recent reviews strongly suggest that the campground is experiencing significant maintenance and management problems. Campers should be prepared for potentially poor facility conditions and the absence of a camp host. It is recommended to bring all necessary supplies, including drinking water, and to be aware of the potential for facility closures. We’ve been coming to this campground for years because of the amazing views and unique boat-in access. This is truly a magical place to camp! Unfortunately this last trip (6/20-6/23) there was no camp host, most campsites had outdated reservation signs and the bathrooms were terrible. The website said to bring all water for cooking cleaning and drinking but the water was running outside the bathroom…We still didnt dare drink it and used the water we hauled in. The 2nd day a pipe under the women’s bathroom sink burst and flooded the area. Toilets were overflowing with waste as well. No camp host came the entire time we were there. We pay a reservation fee for each night we stay but what’s the point if there aren’t any facilities accessible to us?
I love this lake and this campground. This year not so much. I went in July and no camp host. the bathrooms were out of toilet paper and had not been cleaned. the reservation sighs were a week old. Just got back was there on 8/9/21 -8/11/21 bathrooms were locked with sign saying they would open up on Tuesday. No camp host again, a guy and a girl showed up on Tuesday jumped on the ATV I assume to open the bathrooms when they came back I asked if they were open? guy said no, no water. Even though we can get water from the tap on the outside. I tried to ask him another question and he just turned and walked away. not a good experience this year
Love this campground! It is boat in only, so none of the all night generators annoying everyone. Plenty of room to play, camp sites are isolated from each other, and even an outhouse with running water! Great fishing across the bay and amazing scenery. I'll be back!!!
If you’ve never been to Flaming Gorge you’re missing out. The scenery is amazing. My friends and I call it, The Green Lake Powell. There is so many trees, shrubs, and smooth water. I was blessed to visit the gorge and wake surf the Reservoir. The campground was nice and it’s like it says, you can only take a boat to this campground. It’s peaceful, relaxing, and breathtaking all at the same time. Natures therapy heals all. I would highly recommend this place as your next trip.
It's a fun camping place. You have to boat in to get to it. The bathroom and water are at the top of the hill. Campsites can have 2 tents max. Campsites are all really close together. The view is great! And campsites are close to shore.
