I hesitantly write this review because I want to selfishly keep this amazing place all to myself. My daughter and I escaped to SHSC for father's day weekend and had an absolutely amazing time. Peaceful and cozy with amazing service and food. A real gem. As others have said it is remote and quite a trek to get there. Coming from sea level the hike in from the parking area at 10k feet was breathtaking....literally. A cold beer upon arrival made it all worth it. By the next morning we were pretty much acclimated and enjoyed some amazing hikes in solitude. The owners are genuinely caring people who go out of their way to make your stay special. They are a great resource for hiking trails as well. After a day of hiking you return to a hot shower, cold beer or wine and amazing food as the sun sets. Whether you enjoy a book outside the pavilion or in front of the fireplace the camp is truly refreshing. We will be back next year.
My grown daughter and I spent four nights at sequoia Sierra high camp. The weather was sunny but cool and the nights were cold – – it was the last week before the end of the season. We had a fabulous time. The food, staff, brother and Suzann The weather was sunny but cool and the nights were cold – – it was the last week before the end of the season. We had a fabulous time. The food, staff, Burr and Suzanne and accommodations were outstanding. We loved the hiking suggestions and coming back to camp to Hot showers. The staff even gave us hot water bottles to put in our beds. I would highly recommend Sequoia sierra high camp
Drove up from San Francisco with the wife... we had a great time. We hiked Mitchell Peak and we were blown away. wow. The food was great the bed was soft and the showers were hot, what more can you ask for in the middle of the mountains. It was a long trek in, but well worth the drive. I gave excellent ratings on appeal because this place is really one of a kind. I went to their site an upload some photos here.
To put it in context, the owner went to England for a master's in architecture to build one building...the dining pavilion at High Sierra Camp. He nailed it. Gorgeous setting, wonderful food, comfortable "tents"...all make for a wonderful experience. Hikes from the camp are challenging, but absolutely worth the effort. Beware the altitude at first, but you'll get used to it.
Great food and service nestled deep in Sequoia National Forest. Getting here is tough, but we'll worth the trip.
