Customer Reviews
This was my first time visiting Hillbilly Haven, and overall, it was a fun and relaxing experience. The location is pretty tucked away in the countryside, so it can be a little tricky to find. Expect gravel roads leading into the property and down to the river access point. The setup is pretty laid-back, which fits the vibe. Most of the inner tubes provided were a bit dirty, though you can rinse them off in the river. They’re stored in a big pile, so I’d highly recommend bringing your own tube if you prefer something cleaner or more comfortable. The tubing experience really depends on the river conditions. I went on a day when the water level was low, so the current was very slow. I found myself getting stuck in shallow spots, throughout the entire river. Still, it was peaceful and a great way to spend time outdoors. I highly recommend doing this at a group of people Bringing water, items to keep you shaded from the sun and water shoes. The river has wildlife and the terrain can be unexpected, so water shoes and sunblocks are needed. A nice bonus is the shuttle that brings you back to the starting point—it was convenient and kept the trip simple.
This is the only place to tube in close proximity to DFW, which makes for a nice day trip. There really aren't any amenities. The staff is friendly and for $25 you can rent a tube and take a shuttle back to the parking lot. If you want a tube with a bottom, be prepared to create it yourself with provided rope.
First time trying this place out and we loved it! The only downside was the long line at the window to pay and sign the waiver—it can get pretty backed up on weekends. They could use a little more help at the front to speed things up. Other than that, great experience!
This is the best day trip you could have. Drive in easy, unload coolers, dry bags, etc... at top of hill, then park. A bus takes you to the top of the river. Takes bout 4 hours once in the water with plenty of places to stop and eat snacks. Could take all day if you plan it right. Get in early, and the last drop-off is 3pm, Plz pick up any trash you see, and give a hoot 🦉 don't pollute!!! It is truly a great, friendly atmosphere.
We only did a drive through. Sights were large and some right along the river. The river looked inviting with some sand beaches. We saw bad reviews were posted but will need to see for ourselves. We will be camping here in the future. It looked very nice to us.
