Hillside Haven Introduce

Hillside Haven, more broadly known as Hillside Campgrounds, stands as a distinctive and vibrant destination within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category. This establishment offers a unique blend of outdoor relaxation and an energetic social atmosphere, catering specifically to an adult, all-male, and clothing-optional clientele. Located in the serene beauty of Pennsylvania, just 30 minutes south of the New York State line, Hillside Haven is a place designed for guests to unwind, connect, and fully express themselves in a safe and welcoming environment.

  • Environment:

Hillside Haven is nestled in a quiet, picturesque part of Pennsylvania, offering a tranquil natural setting that allows for a genuine escape from the stresses of everyday life. The campground encompasses ample outdoor space, featuring both open areas for social gatherings and secluded spots for relaxation. While not explicitly detailed as being surrounded by vast wilderness or specific large natural landmarks like lakes or mountains, the environment is characterized by its peaceful, wooded surroundings. This creates a calm backdrop that complements the lively social scene. The layout of the campground is designed to foster a sense of community, with central areas for activities and dining, alongside more private camping options. The commitment to a clean and well-maintained property ensures a pleasant experience for all guests. Its location, within a reasonable drive from major metropolitan areas, makes it an accessible retreat while still providing a feeling of being "tucked away" in nature.

  • Services:

Hillside Haven offers a comprehensive array of services to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay, catering to various camping preferences within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category:

    • RV Sites: The campground provides numerous RV campsites, which are typically equipped with full hookups (including electric, water, and sewer connections). These sites are usually priced based on a minimum of two occupants, with additional charges for extra guests. Specific rates vary for weekdays, weekends, holiday weekends, and special event weekends.
    • Tent Sites: Standard tent sites are available for a more traditional camping experience, also with varying rates depending on the day and season. There may be minimum stay requirements for tent sites on weekends and holidays.
    • Cabin and Glamping Options: For those seeking more comfort or a "glamping" experience, Hillside Haven offers various rental units, including:

      • Standard Cabins: These provide a comfortable base, with rates varying for weekdays, weekends, and holiday/special event weekends. They typically have a two-day minimum stay on weekends and a three-day minimum on holidays.
      • Premium Cabins & Luxury RVs: These offer an elevated experience with enhanced amenities. An example mentioned is a "Premium Deluxe RV 150 on Smith Lane," described as an extremely large RV with double pull-outs, a King Size bed, bathroom, full mirrored closets, and a covered deck. These are typically available for rent with varying rates and minimum stay requirements.
      • Bed in a Bag Service: For guests who don't wish to bring their own linens, a "bed in a bag" service is available for an additional fee, enhancing the convenience of cabin and glamping stays.
    • Dining: Hillside Haven features on-site food services, including:
      • Embers Cafe: Offering fresh and delicious home-cooked meals.
      • Splash Cafe: Likely providing lighter fare or refreshments near the pool area.
    • Facilities: Essential communal facilities include clean bathrooms and showers, which are vital for all campers. The campground also offers Wi-Fi access, allowing guests to stay connected if desired. There's also the presence of a General Store (though not explicitly detailed, it's common for such comprehensive campgrounds) to purchase essentials, and likely propane and firewood services, typical of a well-equipped RV park.
    • Pet-Friendly: While not explicitly detailed, many modern campgrounds of this nature are pet-friendly, though specific rules and fees would apply.

  • Features:

Hillside Haven's features are heavily geared towards recreation, entertainment, and fostering a strong sense of community:

    • Heated Swimming Pool: A central attraction for relaxation and socializing, particularly during warmer months.
    • Recreation Hall (Rec Hall): This serves as the social heart of the campground, featuring DJs, dancing, and a "BYOBB Bar" (Bring Your Own Booze Bitch), indicating a lively and inclusive nightlife scene. It provides a space for indoor gatherings and entertainment.
    • Themed Weekends and Events: Hillside Haven is renowned for its packed calendar of themed parties, special events, and spontaneous fun throughout the summer season. This feature creates a dynamic and engaging atmosphere, encouraging repeat visits and fostering a strong sense of community among guests.
    • Nature Trails: For those seeking a quieter experience, the campground offers walking trails through the woods, providing opportunities for gentle exercise and connecting with nature.
    • Clothing-Optional Environment: A defining feature that promotes a sense of freedom, comfort, and self-acceptance, creating a unique and liberating atmosphere for its adult, all-male clientele.
    • Inclusive and Welcoming Space: The campground emphasizes creating a safe, fun, and welcoming environment where guests can relax, connect with others, and "let your true self shine."

  • Promotional Information:

Hillside Haven actively promotes itself as "the original escape for all male connection and calm," positioning itself as a premier destination for the LGBTQ+ community. Their promotional messaging emphasizes the ability to "unplug, unwind, and just be yourself," highlighting the clothing-optional aspect as part of this freedom. They heavily feature their exciting event schedule, including opening weekends and specific themed parties, encouraging guests to book early to avoid missing out.

Key promotional and operational details include:

    • Rates: Pricing is clearly laid out for different site types and seasons, with distinct rates for weekdays, weekends, holidays, and special events. For example, RV sites range from $60-$105 per day, standard tent sites from $50-$95 per day, standard cabins from $90-$170 per day, and premium options from $110-$190 per day. They have a structured cancellation policy: 90% refund for cancellations 15+ days before arrival, 50% refund for 8-14 days before arrival, and no refund for 7 days or less. No refunds are issued for early check-outs or adverse weather conditions.
    • Check-in/Check-out: Standard check-in is 2:00 PM, and check-out is Noon. Guests can often check in early (10:00 AM) and stay until 6:00 PM on check-out day to continue enjoying the facilities.
    • Membership: While not explicitly stated as a separate membership, the language of "Season Pass" and "21+ all male" implies a focus on a specific community, with access often requiring adherence to their specific guidelines.

The campground's website and social media channels are key promotional tools, showcasing photos of events, facilities, and testimonials from satisfied guests. They often highlight their long-standing history ("setting the standard for summer fun for decades" and "40th season countdown"), building trust and a sense of legacy. The overall promotion is focused on creating a fun, liberating, and community-driven camping experience distinct from typical family campgrounds.

A nice quiet campground to get away for the weekend. The spots are very roomy and all of the utilities are brand new. Located far enough into the woods and on a quiet road that you don't hear traffic but still close to all of our favorite wineries. Can't wait to come back next season.

As of July 4th, 2024, the campground isn't officially open, but they had a few spots available and the owners let us hook up for a few days. It was pretty neat having the old Starlite dirt track within eye sight of our campsite. The location of the campground is great, especially if you are going to hit up any wineries and breweries nearby. It's right off the main route, but you don't hear any of the road traffic. The owners are really nice and accommodating, even gave us a free bundle of firewood! This is a smaller campground (from what we're use to), as it only has roughly 12-18 sites, but we'll definitely be returning. I can't wait to see the progress they make once we return.
