Hobson Beach Park Introduce

Welcome to Hobson Beach Park, located at 5210 Pacific Coast Hwy in Ventura, California, USA. As part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, Hobson Beach Park offers a coastal camping experience with ocean views, but it comes with several limitations. You can reach them at (805) 654-3951 or +1 805-654-3951.

Hobson Beach Park is known for its location along the southern California coast, but potential campers should be aware of several significant drawbacks. According to customer reviews, the sites are exceptionally tight, making it difficult to maneuver and fit larger RVs. Some reviewers reported having to move picnic tables and fire rings to fit their 30’ Class C RVs. Parking for towed vehicles is also a significant issue, as day-use parking fills up quickly, leaving no space for campers. The park offers some full hookup sites, but most are no hookup sites, and there is no water available for RVs in the no hookup area. The park's name is misleading, as there is no actual sandy beach, only large rocks, which can be a disappointment for those expecting a beach experience. RVs situated along the rocks may get splashed by salt water during high tide. The campground is also considered ridiculously expensive for what it offers, with prices higher than some beachfront sites in Los Angeles. The small grill offering pizza and burgers may have limited hours or be closed on certain days. Despite these limitations, some campers appreciate the ocean views and friendly atmosphere. However, potential visitors should carefully consider the tight spaces, high prices, and lack of beach access before booking a stay.

Here are some key features and considerations:

  • Tight Sites: Very limited space, difficult for larger RVs.
  • High Prices: Considered expensive for what it offers.
  • Limited Hookups: Some full hookups, but no water for no hookup sites.
  • No Beach: Only rocky shore, not a sandy beach.
  • Salt Water Splashes: RVs near rocks may get splashed at high tide.
  • Limited Parking: Day-use parking fills up quickly.
  • Grill with Limited Hours: Grill may be closed on certain days.
  • Ocean Views: Offers ocean views.
  • Surfing Location: Popular spot for surfers.
  • Location: Situated in Ventura, CA, providing a coastal camping experience.

Hobson Beach Park offers coastal camping with ocean views, but it comes with tight sites, high prices, and limited amenities. Potential campers should be aware of the lack of a sandy beach and the possibility of salt water splashes. If you are looking for a convenient surfing location and are willing to tolerate the limitations, it might be suitable. However, consider reviews carefully before booking due to the high prices and limited space.

We RV camped here. There are some full hookup sites and mostly no hookup sites. THERE IS NO WATER FOR RVs in the no hookup sites so don't come empty unless you have full hookups. It's a great location on the southern California coast but the sites are tight. They have a little grill with pizza and burgers but we haven't tried it yet. The day parking fills up fast and it's a popular place for surfers. And if you have an RV site along the rocks expect the back of your rig to get splashed by salt water at high tide. Like anywhere along the coast, it's close parking but we enjoyed our stay.

Ridiculously expensive for what it is. More expensive than the sites right on the beach in LA. Sites are so tinyt hat I had to move both the picnic table AND the fire ring to fit my 30' class C. Then, there was no room to park my tow behind small car, and no where to park it, with all the available parking spots reserved for 'day use' visitors. Oh, and they neglect to tell you, that in spite of the name, there really is no beach, just rocks, BIG ROCKS, so a 'beach' experience it's not. And, the much heralded pizza shop was closed the day we were there in the middle of the week. Other campers were very friendly, but that's about the only nice thing I can say. Well, that and the sunset was very nice.

This is a small campground, which is great. The only negative thing I can say is that the spots are too close together, but in all honesty, every camper here has been amazing and friendly! The Park Rangers patrol all the time, which helps keep the riffraff out. When the tide is high, it can crash over the wall, but you're at the beach so you should expect it. When the tide is low, it's a great beach to get away from the crowds. Yes you can hear the train, but you can also hear the ocean waves. And the sunsets are amazing. The only thing that could improve this camp ground would be if less people knew about it.

Small clean beach campsite Ventura County with good point break surf. Little cramped but nothing too bad. Onsite burger hut. Close to Carpinteria where you'll find three breweries, Brew Lab being the better of the three for craft beer.

Sites are tight and more expensive than camping in most of the national and state parks! But you do have the beach for your view from almost every site!
