⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hidden Gem in the Rainforest Hoh Oxbow Campground stole my heart! It’s peaceful, private, and absolutely stunning. Nestled in the mossy magic of the Olympic Peninsula, this spot felt like my own personal sanctuary. No crowds, just the sound of the river and the whisper of trees. I didn’t want to leave—and honestly, I’m still not sure I have.
This place has amazing views and is a beautiful place to walk around . The nature around it is incredible, and it feels like a peaceful escape into the rainforest. One thing to keep in mind is that getting a National Park Pass can be tricky if you don’t have it already. There’s no cell service to buy one online, and when we went, there were no park agents around to help. Luckily, someone shared their pass with us, but it was a little stressful. the views make it worth it! Just plan ahead to avoid any issues with the pass.
Hoh Oxbow Campground is a small DNR facility with around 10 sites. A Discover Pass is required, but there is no additional fee associated with camping here. A seven day stay limit applies. Three of the riverside sites are best suited for tent campers, with the picnic tables and fire rings being separated from the parking in elevation and a few of the other sites would be tough to level an RV in. That said, I'm here on a Sunday in October in a camper van and there were a few suitable sites on the river available. It's a nice little facility with good privacy separation between sites and river access for boaters. A typical vault toilet is available.
This is easily one of my favorite spots to unwind. The Hoh river flows swiftly here, the moss grows thick, and the campground isn’t very crowded. I’ve visited in December and in April. The weather was similar in both seasons. Rainy, moderately cold temps, but many moments of sunshine, too. Elk, eagles, ravens, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, and myriad other wildlife species can be seen all around.
Large, multi-faceted campground generally dedicated to fisherman. Access to the Hoh for put in or pull out in your raft, kayak, or drift boat. Tons of sites, never seen it more than 10-15% full in later fall through spring. You can always find some privacy, plenty of sites close on the river.
