Really nice, modern room - lights from behind the bed. Tons of TV channels! It has a weird location - you go a mile, pay a toll, turn, drive a block then have to make a Uturn to reach the entrance. I'd stay here again though.
For such a small hotel, in such a remote/middle of nowhere area, it’s quite impressive. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The rooms (and all facilities on the premise) are clean, tidy, and fully functional. Breakfast was fresh every morning, with a considerably decent variety of options. Keep in mind it IS a small place, with a smaller breakfast buffet, BUT considering how small it is, the options, variety, and freshness were actually quite impressive. Some other reviewers complained about rooms being outdated or not clean, or “noisy”, but I actually found ours to be quite comfortable, VERY clean, and relatively modern for such a remote place. Also, a certain level of noise is normal in hotels. Guests should keep in mind that this is not a fancy “five-star” resort; some noise and minor wear & tear is completely normal for a hotel. Aside from hearing a few people walk by every now & then, I found it to be very quiet. This is a small town and a middle-of-nowhere hotel, and it’s very impressive for such a location. I travel extensively & frequently and after decades of traveling & hundreds of hotels, you learn to know what to expect. This Holiday Inn exceeded my expectations. The amenities are great; a great selection of TV channels, free WiFi, microwave, coffee machine (ours used k-pods), and a fridge. Plenty of outlets (both in-wall plugs and USB), ironing board, iron, safe, and a better-than-average quality hairdryer. For a business trip, a solo or couple’s pass-through, road trip, trucker’s rest stop, etc, it serves all its purposes. I also fed some stray kittens nearby and they were very compassionate about it. I appreciated that very much; these people are real humans, not a “we don’t care” corporation. It really gives you that warm small-town feel and makes you feel like you’re part of the family.
The only positive was the free breakfast, our room was clean and quick checkout. In our room the bed had a visible dent in it. We rolled to the middle of it, led to an uncomfortable night. You can hear everything above you and on both sides. In addition there was only one wash cloth and towel in a room for 2 we called and we' were asked to come down and get more. The shower in the bathroom had a piece of the faucet hanging off, we mentioned it at the desk when getting our towels and it was never handled. I expected better for the price but I won't stay at this location again.
SO LOUD. Walls and floors are paper thin, you can hear everyone's conversation and footsteps in every direction. The noise from the hallway is so loud I might as well have the door open. Beds are old and heavily worn. This is a very old location that only stays in business because the location is extremely convenient. The rooms are dated, and not particularly clean. The staff was nice enough. I have no idea why this place has four stars.
I’m not sure where anyone would give this a 4 rating. I stood at the front desk to check and the front desk clerk just sat there and continued to do whatever she was doing. She didn’t acknowledge me or say anything so I walked away and went to the restroom. Restroom smelled like urine and trash was overfilled in the restroom. So then I started to think what the rooms were going to be like. Came back to the desk and there was another gentleman who started to check me in. Than all the suddenly there was yelling and screaming coming down the hall where housekeeping was yelling and cursing at each other dropping f-bombs and calling each other B*+chs. One housekeeper was even yelling that the other saying she doesn’t take the time to change the sheets on the beds. All of this while the guy checking me in acting like nothing was happening and this was normal everyday activity. Not something you want to hear while checking into a hotel or if I was in any of those rooms hearing outside my door. Pool was halfway drained and didn’t look operational in some time. With the statement the lady said from housekeeping made me check the bed, found hair and just some spots on the sheets. Needless to say I didn’t stay here and had to drive 40 miles just to find a decent hotel.
