On the morning of Tuesday, January 21, 2025, I made a reservation for the following Friday and Saturday nights at the Holiday Inn Express in Foley/Gulf Shores, Alabama. Later that day, an unprecedented 125-year snow blizzard shut down the entire southern part of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. The following morning, Wednesday, January 22, I realized that travelling from New Orleans to Foley on Friday would most likely not be possible, so I called to cancel the Friday night reservation, but keep the Saturday night reservation. My reason was obvious and understandable; however, I was told that they would not allow my cancellation nor credit my payment for Friday night. Now, I didn’t simply change my mind or choose another of the numerous nearby hotel options available. I wanted to retain my reservation for Saturday, the first day I could drive on a highway and get there. For the following three days, travel on the roads, bridges, and Interstate system was completely shut down due to freezing weather and treacherous conditions. On the third day, travel was limited to only emergency responders, and roads were still impassable. Their rudeness and lack of consideration of the situation that confronted me certainly changed my opinion of the whole Holiday Inn brand. Given the thousands – if not millions - of travelers from Louisiana, Mississippi and beyond that visit this area each year on their way to the Gulf Coast area, one would think that an obvious unavoidable emergency weather situation would be understood and accommodated by a company who claims they pride themselves in being a trusted hospitality brand. Trusted? The next time there might be a hurricane that requires your cancellation. And they won’t allow it. I am sharing this information as a warning to all travelers who might consider a Holiday Inn property, especially in the Gulf Shores, Alabama area. If this review exposes their lack of regard for the misfortune of others and prevents someone from booking a room with them, so much for their “hospitality.”
I do not recommend this hotel absolutely disappointed! Employee name Gabriel at the front desk checked me in gave me a room I walk into the room which there’s someone already in the room! Come back downstairs to let him know there’s someone in the room he kicks those people out & tries to give me that same room that people were in which obviously isn’t sanitized anymore! I refused to take that room then he tries to give me a handicap room which btw I AM NOT HANDICAP. Then refunds me and I have to wait for my money this is unbelievable
Retired Platinum Members passing thru on vacation who thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this location. From the reasonable rates, the safe well lit parking lot, the welcoming staff, the well stocked breakfast bar to the clean, quiet, and comfy rooms, this location lives up to what we have come to expect from an HIE experience. We will definitely be back.
Good place since it is a block away from the main road. The place could use some maintenance. Stay here twice and the bathroom is not level. The main room door seem to rub when closing.
Awesome place to stay! Had to leave one day earlier than planned. Will definitely stay here again! Very close to Tanger Outlets. Many restaurants near, in walking distance.
