Holiday Inn Express & Suites Helen, an IHG Hotel

We always seek out this hotel chain because they do not allow pets. We have allergies and other hotels make us miserable. This policy makes the rooms so much cleaner, fresher, and they smell good. This hotel had great breakfast items although it was typical frozen items that are warmed up. But there was great variety. A big thank you to the staff, especially the desk clerk Melissa, who stepped up to fight against the third part booking agent when they refused to pay our bill. She made sure we still had a room with an upgrade and was friendly and so helpful. She deserves recognition!! Please keep your hotels pet free and as clean and nice as this one and we will continue to support your brand on our many travels all over the country.

Excellent staff! Super friendly and attentive. Could use some better repair here and there and the heat pumps in the rooms are finicky. The numbers seem to mean nothing. However, great location. Feels safe. Excellent biscuits and gravy! Like crazy good!

Location is perfect! Less than a mile walk to Helen Square. Easily walkable. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Top notch service. My wife and I were surprised that this was a 3-star hotel and not 4, all things considered. When returning to Helen, this hotel now has another loyal family. Something unique this Holiday Inn Express has is cookies at the front desk. This was a really nice surprise. This is the nicest Holiday Inn Express I have stayed in yet. The room we had was a king, booked with points believe it or not, and was spacious. It was a very comfortable bed. The pillows are hit and miss as the bed had 2 different types of pillows on it so make sure you sleep on the one you prefer. I made the mistake of using the wrong one the first night and was uncomfortable, but that was my fault for not feeling the different pillow types on the bed. The hotel itself looks brand new. From our room, we had a king, we had a nice view of the city. The restroom was very spacious with a wonderful walk-in shower with great pressure. This is one of the best hotel showers we’ve used. If you come while the city is decked out for Christmas, behind the hotel there was a beautiful Christmas light display and from our room, we had a great view! Breakfast is the only thing that is kind of cheap. I wish they had a plain yogurt option rather than just 3 different types all containing sugar. They had 2 or 3 fruits depending on the day, 3 options for cereal, instant oatmeal, and grits. They had hot options, but the “omelettes” were frozen and I think the sausage might have been, too. The biscuits were really good, my favorite overall food wise. In a nutshell, the breakfast was cheap overall and not the best quality, but it was free, so I’m not complaining. Overall this hotel is a big winner for me and was one of the best parts of our stay in Helen. I say that for the hotel itself, location, view, cleanliness, service, and amenities (excluding the breakfast which was overall mediocre).

It feels like they've really asked themselves what would people want when they're traveling - and the little touches made all the difference. We usually take our own pillows b/c we like nice pillows - their pillows are great. Nice Keurig coffee maker in the room, daily maid service, all-day cookies and coffee for weary travelers, very nice hot breakfast with everything you could want, hot showers with lots of water, shampoo etc. in full size, tamper-proof bottles, very nice, cheerful staff. The outlets are a little worn so it's hard to keep electronics hooked up. However, great choice for the money.

I do not think I have ever stayed at a Holiday Inn before but we decided to give it a try having previously stayed in Helen twice before at other hotels. Hotel is very nice. Clean lobby and friendly staff. We were offered cookies after check in. Room was clean and it was quiet. Bed was a little stiff for me but was still nice. I liked the two pillow choices, with soft or firm embroidered on the cases. Hotel is in walking distance to everything, yet on the outskirt in a way so it was not packed like it was in the heart of town. Breakfast was very good as far as free hotel breakfast goes. Worked out in gym one night. Had everything I needed. Pool looked nice but did not use it. I would stay again.
