Holiday Inn Oceanside Camp Pendleton Area, an IHG Hotel

Booked 3 rooms total for family for a wedding - made sure to book with the amount of guests for each room and also clicked INCLUDE breakfast which is pre paid. Each room had 4 people and they only give you breakfast for 2. The room has a smell to hit as when I exited the elevator on floor 3 they had fans going from what looked to be wet carpet. Stayed for 2 nights and they do not clean the rooms nor give you fresh towels. The service from the women who worked the front desk was an absolute joke and all she wanted to do was argue as opposed to helping and providing CUSTOMER SERVICE. This would be the last place I boom if I ever come back and if it was the last hotel available I would consider staying in the next town over just for a better stay. Not worth the 1500 plus dollars for 2 nights (3 rooms).

Overall, I didn't have any issues with check in or the room during my stay. The customer service was awesome both at the bar and at check-in. Location was great because Camp Pendleton was around the corner and restaurants with walking distance. I often travel and Holiday Inn is my usual go-to spot. What surprised me was that the breakfast was not included. That is my only complaint 😐

Husband and I checked in on 1/30/25. Noticed the cobweb on the right hand corner by the mirror on 1/31/25 in the morning while getting ready for the day. Told front desk morning of 1/31 who said he will have someone take care of it. Noticed when we returned 1/31 late that it is still there. Told front desk while checking out on 2/1 am. Man at front desk was dismissive didn’t care that cobweb was still in the room. I will never go back to any Holiday Inn a will not recommend.

Let me preface by saying the staff has been absolutely amazing. Rudy at the front desk did a great job helping me clear up my booking/ points issues. The breakfast restaurant is pricey but good. The rooms are adequate but a little disappointing (we stayed in a junior king suite). The layout is kind of weird. Oceanside was cloudy or foggy every single day we were here. Yet you drive 5-10 minutes away, and it was clear skies. If you have business on Pendleton, it is a 5 min drive. The location also has quick access to the freeway and nearby cities with shopping areas. Overall, it was a great stay. I just wish the rooms were nicer.

To make it clear i did not get a chance to stay in there. I searched online where they advertised a promo , the location, reviews and price looked good to me, so i decided to give them a call and asked more about the room offered. The person who answered the call appeared to be from a booking department, did not know much about the room, and to my question whether the ocean would be visible from the windows, responded that he could not guaranteed that. Worth noting that i was asking for to stay beginning the same day I called...I asked, are you there? you would not know how room looks like? - we cannot guarantee which room exactly you are going to get but i can put in your request in a note. Then he started offering me an IHG (hotel chain?) membership , promising that for a member he would be able to offer an unbeatable price for the same room. Spending next 15 minutes or so collecting all kind of information necessary for that membership, he , visibly satisfied , then announced that he was about to offer me that unbeatable price. Yup, you guessed it right, it was $20 more than the price i found on the internet. To my question how that can be, the response was "you know the rooms are going fast, and the pricing are changing quickly as well".... But you spent most of the time on signing me to some membership that i was not really asking for...Well...[full bunch of b/s followed]. I hanged up. Money was not the main issue, but the bait and switch tactic performed boldly and primitively i have had not seen for a long time stopped my desire to stay in this place forever. Yes i am a curious person, and checked later at night - google search showed the same promotion price online as before, and the availability showed the same amount of rooms left. What a shame !!
