Had a trip with the family here so rented several cabins and a camping spot. We had the camping spot and it was pretty good spot with shade and a view of the creek. Never could figure out the cable cause some neighbors said it.went out and there were several cable.lines to choose from. No phone signal hardly at all. So no phone or TV before bed. The site was nice and solid. Definitely would stay again. Had a few restaurants close by. Creek was nice and the grands and overgrown kids had fun.
Don’t trust the online pictures. The actual campgrounds need major attention. Bathhouses were not cleaned daily, even during a slow week after a holiday weekend. Trash in the bathrooms sat from Monday-Friday. Large fans need to be turned on to circulate the air and decrease bugs. Swimming pool needs attention such as checking chemical levels. There was algae growing in the pool. RV site pads need a better drainage system with more gravel to help with the mud pools that form after a rain. This is constructive feedback. With much needed simple upgrades, there is SO much potential to this property to be the best campground in Arkansas.
I am going to post about the good things and the not so good things for practical purposes that are helpful to other Fifth Wheel RV Campers. The campground has sites that are located right on the creek, close to near by activities, the staff was friendly. Here are the challenges. You will need about 20 feet of sewer hose the septic at sites are not close. We had to purchase longer hose at the Walmart and have never needed to do this other place it was odd. The streets are in need of a lot of work. Paved would be nice. Mud trench running down the street. Very tight spaces need more space between RVs. Picnic table was bent and wobbled. Bathrooms are very old and need updated although the toilets have been replaced and are flushable. This is a charming place, however for the nightly price needs to have some work done to fix up property. It has a lot of potential. Pretty location and fun for family and kids. The name of the campground is charming also. It had a good feel to it, just a bit run down and needing fixed up. Not sure the story, however it they make some of those changes it would be a great place to stay in upcoming years. Oh yes also…. The free WIFI does not work well at all. Nor does cell phone service so be aware before getting there if you need to get ahold of anyone meeting you there!
Holiday Mountain Resort has new owners! The Historic Swinging Bridge, Sylamore Creek, a pool, cabins, RV parking, or pitch a tent. Cold drinks in the gift shop and a retro punch card for day use is such a great idea. Fishing, swimming, and enjoying the nature. Kayak rental was $10 for half a day. I’ve been coming to the area since age 8 and it’s nostalgic and wonderful. Love it! It’s rustic and dated but adds to the charm. You are near the White River, Blanchard Springs Caverns, Mirror Lake Waterfall, restaurants on the river all while nestled in the Ozark Mountains on the Sylamore Scenic Byway.
We have been camping and kayaking here for the past 4 years. We have always had a great time. Even this year with new owners and after the major flood still a nice park to camp at. Very quite secluded but still close enough to town if needed to go
