The camp attendants are so friendly, and the campground is very clean and well maintained! The screened in platforms are comfortable and easy to stay in. This campground is designed to be hiked into or paddled into. You can only drive in and keep your car overnight if you have a handicapped parking tag. We did try to meet up with friends here, but they were followed by a local and intimidated, so they never made it to the campground, and on my way to drive to the campground, I was run off the road by a local. But the difference between the local area and the trail and waterway is night and day. I definitely recommend this campground, but I don't recommend the Jasper area as your starting point for the Florida Trail, because the area is not LGBTQ+ friendly or POC friendly.

My lovely wife Gina and I and our two dogs Lucy and Barkley are the current volunteer hosts at Holton Creek River Camp. This is truly a beautiful and special place in the Florida State Park System. What makes it really special is the fact that it is only available to padlers and through hikers on the Florida Trail. I have created a detailed blog entry on my website slowpokesadventures.com about the camp. Please check it out for a lot of great pictures of the camp and a lot of other interesting nature related travel information. It has truly been a pleasure to be able to volunteer at such a wonderful camp.

Flooded stairs. Looks like a cool spot to camp. Hoped for bathroom access.

Loved this quiet camp on the river. The camp host was really great and the screened in platforms are very nice! They have a fan, light and electric outlets.

I keep hoping the camp will get fixed up and back in use but the storms keep hitting the area. Stayed here twice and I feel sad that a place we had such nice memories of is in disrepair. I'll keep checking and will be back! We want to stay multiple nights and hike around and not just kayak the river.

We frequent this location often with the scout troop via the florida trail and most recently via the Suwannee River from Woods Ferry upstream. Hot shower is a plus, and the host is super.
