🎣 Introduction / Overview
Nestled on the scenic southern shores of the magnificent Lake Vermilion in Northern Minnesota, Hoodoo Point Campground stands as a long-time favorite for local anglers, RV enthusiasts, and families seeking a classic lakeside getaway. This municipal park, often lovingly referred to as the "Jewel of Tower," offers a comprehensive camping experience with amenities ranging from primitive tent sites to full hookups for the largest of motorhomes. Hoodoo Point operates as a welcoming, three-season campground, typically running from May 1st through October 1st each year.
While the campground has been around for some time, it is consistently praised for being very well kept, a testament to the dedication of the staff and campground management, who are frequently noted for their top-notch hospitality and responsiveness to guest needs. Hoodoo Point’s primary draw is its unparalleled access to Lake Vermilion, a massive body of water renowned nationwide for its world-class fishing, particularly for walleye and muskie. Campers here are often focused on the water, utilizing the excellent boat launches and docks for fishing and recreation.
Hoodoo Point caters to a diverse range of campers with nearly 70 reservable short-term campsites, in addition to 27 seasonal sites. The layout offers a variety of environments, including sought-after lakeside sites, which provide awesome lake views, and more secluded, primitive options. It is a social, family-friendly environment that strikes a good balance between being a functional home base for serious boaters and a comfortable destination for a relaxing week by the water.

📍 Location and Accessibility
Hoodoo Point Campground is located in the beautiful Iron Range region of Minnesota, specifically at Tower Park, 5788 Hoodoo Point Rd, Tower, MN 55790, USA. The campground is situated on a peninsula or point extending into Lake Vermilion, giving it a vast amount of shoreline access.
Accessibility is excellent:
The site offers a good mix of asphalt, gravel, and in some areas, river rock, the latter of which customers note can be an annoyance for tent pitching or for dogs. Campers with larger RVs should heed the advice of long-time visitors and be prepared with an extra-long water hose, as hookup points can occasionally be located in unconventional spots due to the age of the park’s infrastructure.

We love bringing our travel trailer here! It is an older campground but is very well kept! The water hookups can be located in odd spots so make sure to bring extra hose just in case. Some sites are all river rock which isn’t ideal with dogs so that is the only reason for 4 stars on “room” rating. The lake views are awesome though! Randy the campground manager is very nice and helpful! He is very responsive to guests needs! We stay here annually and absolutely love it!
People complaining on here about the showers haven't seen bad showers camping. Go to a "family campground" down south to campgrounds that you have to pay with quarters if you want to see "gross" showers. Yeah the setup isn't ideal with the double stall but it isn't as bad as people wrote down on their reviews. It's camping! The hot water is hot and good enough to do what you have to do. The hosts have been nothing but top notch. Answered all our questions and have been super accommodating our whole stay. Even giving us heads up on severe weather coming in. The site was great but The rocks were a annoyance but understand the circumstances due to the flooding. Only a few sites were like that so I'll have to remember for next time!!
Second time spending early July here. The hosts are awesome and make it a great experience every time. Coffee and wood delivered too! Spacious campgrounds and quiet!
"The most sought after site" is what was sold to us. We are tent campers, and there was not one patch of grass at our site # 34. The ground was so hard I bent two stakes trying to set up the tent. The bathrooms and showers are simply gross. Needless to say, we had to leave and we will not go back to this location.
The configuration of the campsites is varied. Some are secluded, some look on the late and some with and without neighbors. No matter your spot its a very nice campground. Places for kids to play and swim and trails to walk.
