Hoop Lake Campground Introduce

Hoop Lake Campground is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Wyoming's scenic landscape. This charming campground offers a peaceful retreat for outdoor enthusiasts seeking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Located along FR 079, Hoop Lake Campground provides easy access to the serene beauty of Hoop Lake, offering campers a unique opportunity to enjoy nature in its untouched glory.

The campground is known for its tranquil environment, away from city lights and noise. It's an ideal spot for those who want to immerse themselves in the great outdoors, with plenty of opportunities for hiking, fishing, and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. The lack of phone service adds to the charm, allowing campers to fully disconnect and recharge.

When visiting Hoop Lake Campground, you can expect a variety of amenities to make your stay comfortable. The campground offers access to water spigots for drinking and cooking, though it's worth noting that water availability may vary depending on seasonal operations. Fire pits are available for campers to enjoy evenings around the fire under the vast Wyoming sky. The facilities at Hoop Lake Campground are basic but functional, with clean restrooms provided for guest convenience.

One of the standout features of Hoop Lake Campground is its location near Hoop Lake itself. This beautiful lake offers excellent fishing opportunities, with a variety of fish species available for anglers to catch and enjoy. The area is also popular among hikers, as there are several trails that wind through the surrounding landscape, offering breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.

Hoop Lake Campground consists of two distinct camping areas: one straight ahead from the entrance and another slightly off to the right. Both sections provide access to the lake, making it easy for campers to enjoy water-based activities. The trees that surround the campground add a touch of privacy and shade, creating an idyllic setting for nature lovers.

While visiting Hoop Lake Campground, there are a few things to keep in mind. The site is quite isolated, so it's advisable to bring your own water supply, as water availability can be inconsistent. Additionally, the lack of hook-ups means that RVers should come prepared with alternative methods for waste disposal and power if needed.

Hoop Lake Campground is a fantastic base for exploring the greater Wyoming area. The nearby town of Evanston offers amenities like grocery stores, gas stations, and dining options, making it easy to stock up before or after your camping adventure. For those looking to explore further, there are several other points of interest in the region, including additional lakes, hiking trails, and wildlife viewing areas.

Customer feedback about Hoop Lake Campground is mixed but generally positive. Many visitors praise the natural beauty of the area and the peaceful atmosphere, making it their go-to camping spot. Fishers particularly appreciate the variety of fish in Hoop Lake and the opportunity to enjoy a quiet morning by the water. The clean restrooms and friendly camp hosts also receive high praise from guests.

However, some visitors have noted that the campground has seen better days. Issues such as eroded camp spots, rusty fire pits, and uneven roads can make accessing certain areas challenging for trailers or larger vehicles. Despite these maintenance concerns, the natural beauty of the area and the opportunity to disconnect from modern conveniences continue to draw visitors back year after year.

If you're planning a visit to Hoop Lake Campground, it's best to come prepared with essentials like water, firewood, and a first aid kit. Our favorite place to camp. No phone service. Good hiking and fishing. There is a good variety of fish too. A little spendy for a place that has no hook-ups for campers (in my opinion). There are two sections to camp. One straight ahead and then one off to the right. Both have access to the lake. I love all the trees.

Hoop lake is beautiful and fishing is always good, however the campground has been neglected, camp spots are no longer level from years of erosion, fire pits are rusted out of the ground, and the road into the campground hasn’t been graded in years resulting in huge pit holes that you can barely get your trailer thru!! The water has been turned off ! The bathrooms are clean and the camp hosts are friendly however!

We stayed 5/27/2024. The road to the campground was like 13 miles of dirt roads that got progressively worse the closer you got. Toilets were locked and water was not on yet but it was a very peaceful and beautiful place.

Caution: Sites are SMALLER than what is posted in the reservation site. Much smaller. We booked Site #2. Reservation said 85ft pull through... Our 33ft trailer couldn't fit in the horseshoe shaped spot. Majority of sites will not fit over a 20' trailer. We even witnessed people using chainsaws to gain more room. You can only imagine the stumps left behind! Camp host apologized and stated it is happening to alot of people. This campground is very tight and full of trees that there is not much room to get in and out of.We were lucky to get turned around by the boat dock. This is the size of trailer that they got in there...not sure how they will get it out.

The campground is beautiful. The camp hosts were amazing very friendly and always taking care of the campground/campers. They always made sure the bathrooms were very clean for campers. We saw them several times outside cleaning up campsites as well. They definitely deserve a 5 star rating for their hard work and kindness. However the campsites were very small and unlevel. The road leading up to the campground was very rough and could use some work.
