Customer Reviews
Had a surreal unacceptable unbelievably terrible experience with the owner of this campground whose name is Tom. Tom personally showed my partner and myself a trailer he has for sale in his campground for $3,000. Yes for $3,000 it does not get you much and most people would think it's below par. We are just looking for a little weekend getaway place & this trailer fit our needs perfectly. Tom was all excited to sell me the trailer until he realized that my partner wasn't just a friend this is my partner. We are both gay males. As soon as he figured that out he told me point-blank this isn't the place for us and we should look at other properties that would suit our needs. Taken back by what he's telling us because I had the cash and ready to go on this deal.... I said we will think about it. It just didn't feel right to me what he was saying left us with a bad feeling. I have never in my life been treated in such poor way. I am a white middle-aged masculine male. When I called him the very next day he didn't pick up. After several times calling he finally picked up. I was kind and cordial and told him we would like to proceed with the deal. To which he hung up on me. Little did he know that a personal passion of mine is to improve and beautify real estate. I'm former 4-year term vice president of the board of directors of a 15 million dollarNaples Florida 54 unit condominium complex. I got along fabulously with my neighbors.... I had the will and kindness of the people of my community on my side while on the board of directors wow passionately improving and beautifying the community with no special assessments or cost to owners. Let me tell you the residents loved the improvements and I never had one cro ss word argument or sleight of I with any of the other owners and we're talking the board of directors here we all know how difficult it can be for a group of people to get along in such capacity. So sad for Tom his short-sightedness and closed-minded approach to others kept a good future neighbor friend and dedicated community servant from his community. I hope others will read this posting to see what a sad situation this is and you can make your own determination and judgments if this is a place you want to bring your family and friends.
Hoosier hideaway had THE best prices for lake house rentals. The cabins are dated but they come with all the basics. The owner here is a really nice guy. Laid back and stays out of your way, but will definitely stay for an chat if you get to talking- a really friendly guy. We stayed 3 nights with our dog (who we felt was barking a lot and being annoying) yet on the day we were leaving, the owner offered us another nights stay for cheap. We had to go back to work, but it was nice of him! There is a pontoon available for rent which was worth the price as we spent most of our time on it. A lot of other cabin rentals rent pontoons by the hour and it costs a fortune, but here is was a daily fee- and a good deal. There are some people who live on the lake, so you may be renting next to an owner, but everyone seems really laid back so long as you're not obnoxious. I think this place is more for a chill getaway, not a bring-your-boys-and-shotgun-beers kinda place. There is a small beach area as well. We'll definitely go back someday!
Bi yearly trek to the captains quarters. Located on top of bait shop. 3 bedrooms bath with tub and shower combo. Open concept for kitchen and living quarters. Living quarters has couch love seat and chair with cable television. Only drawback is I advise you to bring your own water.
We are annual/seasonal residents here. We enjoy it because its quiet enough but enough activities...community/family atmosphere. Small lake. Small craft (pontoon, paddle boats, canoes). Its camping but in our very own space. We've been here 3 years ( my husband has been coming here with his family for a decade). My kids love it here...we hope to be able to continue to stay here as a seasonal part of this friendly community.
My family used to go to Bruce Lake in the 60s. Great times. We would see the same people year after year. Played pin ball, pool, the juke box in the restaurant. Wonderful pork tenderloin sandwiches. We would get big innertubes to float on the lake. Such great memories.
Nice quiet location. Don't expect luxurious hotel. Bring your RV and enjoy the quiet area where you can swim, fish or just relax. Does have small store, but push doorbell to get service. No open door. But still friendly.
