Customer Reviews
The KOA was very nice, plenty of amenities and scenery. We booked 2 nights, March 4/5. We arrived before dark, easy set up and had dinner. It was very windy and rainy, no big deal when RVing as you go with the flow. Our concern came about 8pm when we had wind gusts between 45-55 mph and tornado warnings. We decided to pack it up and head to a nearby hotel for safety reasons. On Wednesday, we visited Mammoth Cave as planned. The wind and rain had let up slightly so we decided to move on and head north. The reason for the lower review is that we did not stay one night of the 2 we had booked. My wife asked if we could get the second night refunded as we would not be staying They said due to their cancellation policy they would not refund either night. Most of the time I understand cancellation policies and deal with it. I felt that due to the extreme weather and the fact that we were the ONLY RV in the campground they could have been a bit more accommodating.
Our family of five took our Class C RV to Horse Cave KOA over fall break. It was one of our favorite campgrounds we ever stayed at. The staff was fantastic and the amenitities were great. The whole family couldn't get over how incredibly CLEAN the bathrooms were. So nice. There is some noise from the interstate, but it's the price you pay for the convenient location. We didn't really notice it after a bit.
RV sites close to the horse pastures are huge and you can even park your car next to you. Park was clean and well maintained and there are several activities for kids. They even have horses you can pet and a pair of turkeys. The staff was very warm and friendly from those at the front desk to those maintaining the landscape. The only downside for me was the amount of freeway noise at night and the loud neighbors who did not respect the 10:00 p.m. quiet time and thought it was okay to party till midnight.
We have camped here for years!! There is a lot to do in the area for families. The bathrooms are great! The two down sides are the dump station is a little awkward and you can hear road noise. The fourth of July Fireworks show is amazing! They invite in the nearby town for a great show :-)
There are plenty for the kids to do. Showers were nice. Staff was very helpful. It was hard to level camper on the site we had and couldn't open awning because it was setting beside the road. We moved to a more expensive site(concrete pad), and it was unlevel as well. It was rough trying to level our old camper. Very noisy interstate runs beside the campground. The dump site was awkward. Had to turn around and head back in because it was on a hill. Didn't want the hassle of waiting to dump, plus going back in to the campground, so we went to Loves and paid $10 to use their dump site. (Had to get fuel anyway)
Bathrooms are very clean and spacious for showers. Trash pickup is late and not enough space in cans so they end up overflowing. Very close to I-65 with little tree cover, so if you don't have a totally enclosed camper, it's loud all night. The pool needs redone, the edges are crumbling.
This place is incredible, easily located off 76. Horse city KOA has a little bit of everything for everyone to enjoy. A pool that can easily fit 30 to 40 people, a playground for the kids, a basketball court, a super slide, newly added mini golf course. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We stayed in the tree house and the term glamping didn't have much of a meaning until I saw this place. Words don't do it much justice. Definitely worth a holiday stay!!
In our experience this was an OK Campground, but certainly NOT great. It felt more like a parking lot than a campground, and since it was on a hill, it was on ledges. Our assigned site was barely long enough to accommodate our travel trailer and tow vehicle. The Sewer Pipe was sticking out of the ground so high that it was unusable (you know "what" does not run up hill). I had to use the dump station as opposed to being able to discard of our black water at the site. They did, after I complained about this, extend me a small refund towards the sewer part of the "Full Hook-Up" price that I paid. Beware, that this campground is located very close to the Interstate and the traffic NOISE was continuous, and I personally found it extremely difficult to get a good night's sleep due to the noise. The only reason I even gave this place 3 Stars was because the Restrooms/Showers were very CLEAN, which we did appreciate, and also the Office Area/Store was very nice and even had a neat little Coffee Shop. The Staff was Friendly & Helpful.
This KOA is so pretty, clean and conveniently located off I-65! It has Conestoga wagons, teepees, treehouses, cabins, easy to park rv spots—even a 43 ft. fifth-wheel and they all have nice picnic tables. The people in the office are very nice and helpful. The pool and playground areas are great as well!! It was quiet and we felt safe here. There is a dog dog park too.The surrounding countryside is also beautiful. We will be stopping again on our way back south in the fall and hopefully tour some caves!!!
