Horseneck Beach State Reservation Campground Introduce

Welcome local campers and beach lovers to Horseneck Beach State Reservation Campground, located at 5 John Reed Rd, Westport, MA 02790. As a member of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, this destination offers a unique opportunity to camp near the beautiful Horseneck Beach.

The environment at Horseneck Beach is characterized by its stunning coastline. Reviews highlight a "wild and rough surf" during the off-season, providing a different experience compared to the busier summer months. The beach is noted for its cleanliness, with visitors observing it to be "spotless" with no trash or broken glass. The dunes are a significant feature of the landscape, and there is a reasonable warning to respect and not disturb them. Even during off-season visits, the beach is frequented by locals, often accompanied by their well-trained dogs, suggesting a pet-friendly aspect to the area.

While specific services and features of the campground itself are not detailed in the provided reviews, its location within the State Reservation implies access to the natural beauty of the area. The proximity to amenities is also a plus, with reviewers mentioning great places for breakfast, lunch, and dinner located about 15 minutes north on Route 88 from the beach.

One reviewer who stayed for a few weeks in the late summer/fall described the atmosphere as "low key" and "quiet" during the week, with weekends being a little more active but still less crowded than summer. This suggests that those who prefer a more peaceful experience might find the late season particularly appealing, provided they are comfortable with slightly cooler weather. The potential for "snow on the beach" was even humorously mentioned, indicating the diverse seasonal appeal of the location.

For local users seeking a coastal camping experience with a clean beach environment, opportunities for peaceful off-season visits, and convenient access to nearby dining options, Horseneck Beach State Reservation Campground is worth considering. My off-season visit to Horseneck Beach was a blast. No crowds, wild and rough surf, and the very reasonable warning not to mess with the dunes. Walked the beach and encountered locals with their well-trained dogs. The place was spotless, no trash and no broken glass. From the beach I found great places for breakfast, lunch, and dinner north on Route 88 about 15 minutes away. For those seeking potential snow on the beach (thank you, Taylor), this would be perfect.

Stayed for a few weeks in the late summer/fall right by water. Low key. Not busy during week and quiet. Weekends a little more busy but not like summer. If you can take the slightly cooler weather it will be a good experience.

This summer I have been here at least 2 times a week . It is $15.00 for massachusetts residents and I believe $ 30 for anyone out of state . You can't pay with cash !! There a few machines scattered throughout the parking lot to get your parking stub . Ok now about the beach you can rinse off before or after in the showers they do work . This beach has every type of person on it , you will see some of the most beautiful people in your life here . The beach is amazing ..big time bring shoes you don't care about save your feet from the rocks !! There are a lot of rocks. The waves are great . Very friendly lifeguards on duty they do a great job . You can bring body boards , surfboards , no inflatable stuff . You won't even make it to the water lol. I see it all the time. Again don't do the ( rock walk ) save your feet and bring something anything for your feet trust me you will thank me . Very nice people at this beach . Great views . One of my favorite beaches in the world it's very under rated I give it a perfect 10 .

Love love. My favorite local spot of the year every year. Nice playground which was great Because our granddaughter joined us this year. Facilities cooks use more attention. Great beach sites self Contained. Other sites have power but we love the location and work around it for the weekend.

I've been going to Horseneck for years and never get tired of camping there. Great location for sunsets and the Horseneck staff are amazing. A long stretch of beach allows you to have a pleasant walk at low tide. It can be quite Rocky in many areas though. Fortunately there is also a paved path for cycling 🚲 or walking πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ. One of my most favorite places on the East coast

Don't be afraid to boondock! Row C sites right on the beach looked so ideal but no electric scared me. This year, we got an inexpensive solar kit that kept the battery charged, and we had lights and propane and an amazing weekend listening to the surf
