It was beautiful! We entered through the North trailhead. It's a free trail with limited parking. Be sure to bring your hiking shoes. Our dogs loved it but be careful for cacti. There isn't a man-made trail so it's walking on a bunch of rocks and needing to watch your step. My husband and I enjoyed it very much! We hiked in between storms so I'm not sure if the Grotto regularly flows this well or if this was solely because of the storms. Regardless, it was a wonderful hike!

Horseshoe Creek Spur - a diversion off the Horseshoe Creek Hiking Traill - during the fall when lower Horseshoe Creek has dried up and gone underground this is a great place to rock hop and rock scramble and work on your agility. There are 3 drop offs of 3’ to 7’ you can navigate around. Boulders range in size of basketballs to F150’s to 100 foot slabs. In places it’s canyon-like. About a half mile of rocky playground. Lies between Mountain Dew drive and HWY 2147. This would be very hot in July-Sept. Great in November. Keep it clean ! ** NOTE ** THIS IS OFF THE MAIN TRAIL !

Mild incline, trail is mostly lots of rocks and cacti, moderate shade. The rocks are kind of fun if you're into that. If you don't want to go down hill on the way back there is a street you can walk at the end of the lake overlook/ church trail going left ( north). I definitely would avoid this place after a rain and not wear loose flowy shirts as you will catch it on the frequent briars and thorns. I am not an avid hiker and took my 12 year old and we enjoyed it. There are no bathrooms/water or anything other than some old benches so come prepared.

Nice short hike with decent elevation change. The trail is not too rough, but it is not a smooth path.

Nothing wrong with it. I enjoyed my hike. I've been over every spot a few times. Perfect for beginners!
