I stayed 3 nights in free Dave Deacon Campground, which is 1 mile from the Hot Spring. I think these names are used interchangeably for the actual campground, because the hot spring location is not a campground. Coming off paved Hwy 318, you will turn onto gravel Sunnyside road, which is maintained but dusty & washboard. (Do not accidentally take Sunnyside Cut Off road to the campground, it is terribly! washboard.) Go 6 mi to the campground, there are signs. The campground is basically in a pasture, has gravel lanes, restrooms & water spigots. Minimal shade. Not bad for free. I believe a sign said you can stay 8 days. BUT your reward is the hot springs! Exit the campground south (opposite direction you came in), follow the sign at the fork & drive 1 mile. There is a gravel parking lot & restroom. Walk through the open gate, follow the footpath only a few yards. The clear blue gorgeous spring water is beyond beautiful. The area is clean & I was there alone x 2.5 hrs until I left, so peaceful. The water was not hot but warm. If you love water, the drive was all worth it. ATT cell coverage excellent.
Has water tables some shade, road is maintained but bumper go slowly. View is nice not level 4 small lakes very near
Shangri-la within a 7 hour drive. Whodda thunk it. We're returning, for sure. Clean smelling vault toilets & at least two potable water spigots. The nonexistent fee, rules, & overseer is a refreshing change. 9 day limit free camping. Tents, RVs, whatever. 10 miles on a somewhat washboard road. Hot Creek itself is about a mile south of the Campground. I walked there this morning & had that beautiful water all to myself...
This place is Beautiful, as long as you check the weather before you get here 🤦♀️ we stayed here in my kids had a blast!! We had to leave early do to sever winds. I have some amazing videos but for some reason it won’t let me post videos (bummer) Hot creek is probably 80 Degrees just my personal guess but we are definitely coming back 100% in spring. March 4th 2024 super windy
Very nice swimming hole never have I been allowed to swim with a threatened species that nibbled my toes and ribs for n the middle of the desert taking the kids next time. Camp ground is a mile away but the hole makes it worth the hot hike if you choose not to drive from camp
