Surprise little favorite stay for a few nights recently. Extremely likely to highly recommend. They make pizzas, hot and fresh at night that you can pick up which I love !!! Additionally the room was clean& bed was very nice and comfortable and very clean I slept like a Dream! Very dark room and nice bed Hot tub was amazing !!!!! Pool was very clean and the grounds are maintained well
Went into the Howard Johnson very skeptical based on reviews - even packed tons of cleaning supplies in preparation for a room with grime and possible unwanted guests. However, everything was pretty above board! Aside from having to clean the shower tub, the room was well maintained and all of its accommodations went off without a hitch. The bedsheets were nice and cozy, and the AC ran cool. The staff was very accommodating when there was a supposed payment issue on my end and resolved it immediately, and the included breakfast was standard (I'm easily impressed by a pancake machine). All in all, don't overlook the Howard Johnson if you're running on a bit of a budget. If you go in and are not stuffy, it's a nice place with nice amenities and a friendly staff.
My partner and I picked this hotel for a weekend trip and were terrified when we saw the google reviews after booking our room. We packed cleaning supplies and extra sheets (I would recommend you do the same) and nervously awaited opening the door to a room full of roaches. Surprisingly the room was clean. We sprayed the sheets and pillows with lysol, wiped down all the tables and the headboard, and we cleaned the bathroom (which was in the worst state but not completely unmanageable). The breakfast was good and the big chair was fun. Considering what you pay for I think the Howard Johnson is a good hotel. There are people smoking in the night but there were no disturbances when we stayed. The staff were very friendly and the grounds are maintained. It seems like they're working out the kinks so I have faith that this little hotel will become something very nice :)
Terrible experience. When we arrived, a large very loud party had spilled out into the parking lot. People were blocking all of the parking lot and the main office door. Once we were finally able to get them to move, the gentleman at the check in desk was quick and polite. No complaints about him - at all. The rooms are separate from the office building, across a large parking lot. Our room absolutely wreaked of must, mildew and cigarettes. The floor was filthy. The bathroom stunk of urine and the shower was coated with black soap scum. Our toilet would not flush. I called over to the office and was told “well there’s nobody here that can fix it but I have a plunger here if you want to try”. Seriously? After a 6 hour drive, that’s the last thing I want to do. My husband begrudgingly went back down to the car and drove back over to the office to retrieve it. Once WE fixed the toilet, we found out that it was leaking and water was seeping up through the flood tiles (gross). We threw all of the towels down on the floor and didn’t even risk taking a shower. There was no remote to the TV so we couldn’t watch it. The fridge was disgusting. The bars on the inside of the fridge door (where you put bottles/cans of soda) were broken so when you close or open the door, they fall on the dirty floor. The only decent part of the room was the bed. It was clean and very comfortable. Going over to check out in the morning, the parking lot wreaked of marijuana and unsavory individuals were lurking and literally passing out like zombies. This place is exactly like those seedy motels you see on TV shows. It’s awful!
Not bad for the price. Grounds are clean, rooms are clean, staff is exceptional. Only drawback is no in room coffee. It's not a new Shiney, fluffy hotel so don't expect that. If that's what you need, go there. Weekends are busy, everywhere. That's what you get if you venture out on the weekend. So, expect it, and plan accordingly. Don't be a crybaby about it.
