Howard Johnson by Wyndham South Lake Tahoe

Great staff doing the best with what they have. The room was clean, but very outdated. Rust comes out of the faucets to begin with. We had a party going on upstairs and the staff was forced to have the people evicted after they went on a crazy rampage jumping on a motor-home. Again the staff were nice and apologetic. The continental breakfast was apples, oatmeal, bread, fresh juice, coffee, bagels. Not bad for being the least expensive place in town. We only paid $65 on a Friday night. No bugs and the bed was a great relief after 12 hours of driving.

This hotel needs significant repairs. More than that, our room was not available when we got there, despite having reserved over a month in advance. The pool isn't functional, and the parking lot is a disaster. The only saving grace here is that the hotel staff are delightful. I would have just cancelled my reservation if not for them. EDIT (down to 1-star from 2): When our room wasn't available the first night, the front desk employee offered us a discount to take a smaller room for a single night and then move to the bigger room once it was available. We agreed that we could manage for a single night. Not only did the front desk clerk not tell us that they weren't authorized to give us the discount (we would have to go back to the original booking agent), the room we ultimately ended up getting, which was the bigger size, had a water leak that continued for the entire rest of our visit. Their solution was to run a fan during the rest of our stay (4 more nights). Moreover, the bathroom was a nightmare, with peeling paint and mold everywhere. I"m not sure I've ever been more disappointed by a hotel.

This past weekend I stayed at this location and was completely dissatisfied. The pool that is advertised is closed down and has been for years, the "cable" had only one working channel, and the floor of the shower tub was sealed by caulking instead of grout. I asked for assistance from the front desk with the TV, I was given instructions to program them, however this did not work either. When I booked the hotel on the website at 4:00 p.m. I was unable to enter the room until 7:00 p.m. since the room was not clean, which, check in is at 4. The location is completely understaffed. The next morning going to the continental breakfast was also a nightmare, I arrived around 9:30 in the morning and all they had is bread and coffee. Everything else was gone, and they could not replenish the cereal. The morning staff was completely rude when I inquired about the continental breakfast. The owners of this location as well as the Days Inn across the street should be ashamed of themselves for advertising a pool that is closed, a continental breakfast which is only bread and coffee and a staff that is understaffed as well as completely rude who need training for customer service. I went on a family vacation for the first time to South Lake Tahoe and was completely disappointed with these hotels, needless to say I will never stay at either location, however Lake Tahoe was beautiful. I will only give this location a star for the location and for Raj. Please be aware of these locations.

Stayed here last night and I enjoyed my stay. The breakfast was alright. There was toasts like cinnamon raisin and plain, different flavors of oatmeal, orange juice, coffee with sad creamer, frosted flakes and another kind of cereal and fruit. The room itself was clean and smelt clean. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was a little outdated but was fine. Parking was a little bit of a pain but we got an alright spot. Then negative I have was the guest in the room next to ours was a little loud but he finally settled down. So the rooms aren't that sound proof. But I would definitely stay there again.

My check in time was delayed due to low staff and late check outs from a previous event, no compensation was provided. WiFi did not work and when I called the number provided inside the hotel, I was directed to the booking agency who forwarded me to the front desk. That call was instantly dropped. The shower had mold and the walls and carpet were not well kept. TV was constantly making a static noise during shows. Also, the walls are very thin so the children next store were great alarm clocks, but not so great lullabies. However, it is a quick 2 minute walk from the South Lake Tahoe shore, which was very beautiful during my visit this winter.
