Howard Johnson by Wyndham Staunton

This place is unfairly maligned! I have a child who goes to school in Staunton, so I'm in the area often. I have stayed at the local, newer, hotels and they are fine, if you're willing to pay $130 per night. I just stayed here for teo days at $45 per night and it was a deal. It's family owned, so they don't have new linen or furnishings, but they try to keep up with it. I haven't seen any bugs or anything that the bad reviews say. It's really just a plain, comfortable, old-fashioned motel. it's not fancy, but it's definitely a good price.

The rooms are kinda ok, there are no special amenities and the service by employees was great, it's the owner that is the issue. The owner has managed to berate there employee at 6 am while I was getting breakfast( she didn't know I was in the breakfast aira while she was acting out). As soon as 11 hit it has been nonstop calling and knocking on the room as we pack up and only 20 minutes have passed. The hotel and employees are great, it's the owners attitude and micromanagement is the issue here.

Well maintained pet friendly hotel in great location. The staff was great. So often in order to stay at pet friendly and budget friendly hotels we have to accept sub par accommodations and we were gratefully surprised by this hotel! Wyndham should reward this hotel since other " Wyndham " hotels we stayed at were subpar. We will be back.

if I was to give this place a 0,I would, the Manger, Owner and Maintance Guy are horrible people. we have been kicked out twice because they're not patient enough to wait until we're able to pay the room despite having a lot of money. I pray for the people who are working there who was actually nice to us. They put my grandmother outside despite the cold and heat. this has happened TWICE. the second time they had called the cops because we wasn't quick enough for them to pack our stuff when we was struggling with the bank. The cops were even confused of the situation. we was put in a filthy room that had a clogged sink(it was clogged with two cans of corn), maggots in the rug said my grandmother, dirty towels and washcloths, dusty, and we found roaches. it took them 4 days to finally fix our sink. Food was found under the fridge and drawers, freezer froze over. My grandma is 62 and disabled, they put her out on the street just because we couldn't pay in time. despite being told we had money but was currently trying to figure it all out, was told my grandmother or me could go inside to use the restroom. They also told us we were no longer allowed to rent at the hotel again. Worst place ever. don't waste your money here. they will treat elders or anyone who isn't rich badly here.

The owner is very kind person. Quite helpful . Facility is old but clean and just fixxed to my budget
