Overall this is a really neat spot to visit or camp at. Beautiful views from the lake, as well as the drive up. Camp sites are well maintained and offer a fire pit, large picnic table, and a bear-proof food container. The neighborhood doe was neat to see, and we got to hear an owl multiple times plus saw a couple loons on the lake. If you’re going to fish, I’d suggest following the trail further around or better yet bring a kayak! There were some big trout jumping out there. Why 4 stars? The last mile and a half isn’t the most maintained road, outhouse was pretty dirty and due to be emptied, mosquitoes were awful (not their fault, but it definitely impacted our stay,) and no trash receptacle unless you go back out to the highway and use the dump (usually a campground with a host has some sort of trash system.)
Beautiful and serene walk around the lake. Very peaceful. Saw baldeagles and deer
I love this place!!! Off the beaten path, and worth it. Small lake with amazing views!!! Great place to bring the kids and dogs.
Pretty bumpy road to get here but totally worth. Would recommend bringing a kayak and a fishing pole. Great spot to do both. Don't forget the bug spray mosquitoes are very heavy there.
Howard lake is beautiful and relaxing. It is a perfect place for kayaking and to have a picnic.
