We drove up for the day on Memorial Day after most people had left for the weekend. The water level is considerably higher than last year at this time. Fishing is apparently good... good sized Rainbow Trout being caught. We ate at the little restaurant, and although the menu is limited to some basic breakfast and lunch items, it was very tasty. We ordered a chicken wrap with onion rings and chicken strips with breakfast potatoes. After the very busy weekend, they had run out of a few items but accommodated us by substituting. Dogs are not allowed inside, but there is outdoor seating. I would definitely camp here. It accommodates tent camping up to full hookup sites.

I have been coming up to Howard Prairie since 1968. We have not visited since Jackson County took over. It was sad to see that the campground was empty, but this is normal since the lake level was low and they were transitioning to the new marina. The only negative was the store was only open on the weekend. We had to change sites due to a clogged sewer line. The campground hosts were very understanding and gave us a couple of options. Campsites were clean and fairly level and I look forward to coming back in 2024. I also need to add that the lake level was caused by the damn work and low rain/snow over the past couple of years.

Was excited to stay here. I was telling my kids how great it looked from the website. We get there only to find out that the lake is a swamp, the store and cafe are not open during the week at all and that it is in fact, not a resort. This seems to be a great spot for full timers that set up and chill in their trailers or people with boats to fish. Or a great place for people to party with zero supervision by law enforcement.

First time camping here and definitely my last. The resort itself is like a ghost town. I wondered why nobody was there until I realized it's most likely the lake level (which didn't bother us) and also the hosts and employees of the resort. Very rude. It seems like they don't actually want anyone there. The employees tried making up for how terrible they were to us, but at that point we were over it and had already decided to relax elsewhere. Clean campground and bathrooms. But to be expected with nobody around. Beautiful area. Tons of camping around the lake. Just wouldn't come back to the resort for it.
