This is a beautiful little campsite in the middle of a scrub hammock. It is about a two-mile hike on an old firm tram road through pine wetlands and cypress swamps. There is no water or toilets, so you need to come prepared. From this location you can hike to a scrub area to the west that is surrounded by cypress swamps. To the East and North there are long trails through may different habitats, mostly swamps. The only islands you will find in this area are areas of dry land surrounded by pine wetlands or swamp. Several people say they couldn't find the campsite. There wasn't a sign pointing to it from the main trail last time we were there. It is really there however! It may be worth checking satellite view and marking the coordinates. You can find information about camping here at The South Florida Wildlife Management District Website.
The best camping area in Florida. I will come again it's beautiful I I went bicycle camping the best.
Found this place on the map we like to go for hikes on Sundays. Walked the road for about 2 miles to were it says campsite and there is nothing there’s no ponds no islands. It was still a nice walk but there’s not much going on. If you’re looking for a flat wide road walk it’s a good place for that
Very nice campfire area. My kid enjoyed the freedom of starting a fire.🤭
This was a very pleasant walking trail. Lots of birds and crickets and trees. However, as another person stated there is no campground or anything here, just woods.
