One of the standout features of Hueco Rock Ranch is its affordable pricing. Camping rates are set at $10 per person, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers. While the communal areas and facilities are well-maintained, some guests have noted that the individual room rates may be slightly higher than expected. However, the shared spaces, such as the large barn, often make up for this with their vibrant atmosphere and convenient amenities.
The ranch boasts a cozy communal area where guests can gather, cook meals on shared stoves, and socialize. This space is particularly popular among visitors who appreciate the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and connect with others who share a passion for outdoor adventures. The barn also serves as a hub for relaxation, offering shade from the hot sun and protection from windy conditions.
Hueco Rock Ranch - American Alpine Club also offers a range of amenities that cater to both individual campers and groups. While the communal areas are highly praised, the individual rooms provide a more private option for those who prefer it. The property's location in El Paso makes it an ideal base for exploring not just the local natural attractions but also the vibrant cultural scene of the city.
Customer feedback highlights the positive experiences guests have had during their stays. Many appreciate the low rates and the sense of community that comes from using shared spaces like the barn. The proximity to Hueco Tanks is another major selling point, with visitors raving about how convenient it is to access some of the best climbing routes in the area. One guest described their experience as "AMAZING," praising both the facilities and the friendly staff who created a welcoming atmosphere.
Overall, Hueco Rock Ranch - American Alpine Club offers an authentic outdoor experience that combines affordability, community, and access to stunning natural beauty. We car camped here for $10 per person, and it’s worth it because you have the communal area (the barn) where you get to meet cool people and cook on a stove and just have a good rest from the sun/wind. We didn’t stay in the rooms, but I’d say they’re a little overpriced, but that building has an even nicer communal area. Location next to Hueco Tanks (5 minutes) is perfect. Had an AMAZING time.. the staff are the best.
Loved my stay, management put on good vibes and the facility was the best in the hueco valley!
We tent camped here for a couple of nights while climbing at Hueco Tanks. This campground is definitely setup for serious climbers, which we are not, but we found it quite accommodating regardless. The price is great and the camping area is open and quiet (unlike some of the other climber camping spots outside Hueco where you literally pitch your tent in the parking lot). The community barn has hot showers, open seating areas, and a kitchen for all to use. If you can’t get a spot inside Hueco or just don’t want to deal with it, this is a good alternative.
Great time at the Rock Ranch. Alè and Landon were amazing hosts!
Perfect place to stay while climbing Hueco. Probably not worth the price if not an Alpine Club member, best deal by far across competitors (vcrux or Gleatherland) for tent camping if you are a member.
