It is just a basic campground with usual amenities. The closest to us bathroom might be cleaner, but it was not too bad. The main benefit of this campground is the proximity to the Hume lake. It is a small reservoir with pretty clean water where you can swim. The beaches are not big though. We've been there in the end of July, it was not too hot, because the altitude is hugh here.
"rooms" are campsites but they are roomy and most have shade at least a portion of the day. Restrooms are clean and the campsites are well taken care of. There's a trail around the lake and the tiny town of Hume is a short walk away. Gorgeous scenery getting to the campground but the last three miles are narrow and very winding.
Absolutely no complaints about the site itself--clean, good restrooms, helpful hosts, large sites, near a beautiful lake that we really enjoyed. We stayed in 56, one of the double sites, and it was huge and relatively private. Rather slanted, so the best spot for tents was near the back of the site. Lots of dirt, which was messy but made for soft sleeping. Very pretty, short drive to Kings Canyon and a bit more to Sequoia. BUT THE NOISE. We camp in national parks regularly, and are used to campground that aren't exactly quiet. I'd read that the Christian Camp down the road made some noise, and having grown up going to one, I assumed there would be general yelling and hollering and the occasional campfire song and decided that we'd be fine with that. Instead I was shocked that they used a loud PA/speaker system to blast music and amplify speakers' voices for HOURS each day. First was wake-up music ~7:00-7:45. Then you could expect near constant speaker noise around dinner, ~5:00-7:00 while they did activities, and sometimes also at night ~8-10. We were in a site relatively distant from the camp, and while it didn't ruin our experience, it did take away from the ambience overall. In the future we'd stay elsewhere and just drive in to use the Hume Lake Day use areas for a day.
Best campsite and Lake I have ever seen or lived in. Hands down! Gorgeous, clean, so much great things to do around you! Family friendly and quiet. Anna the camp host was so friendly and amazing. I wish all the best in her travels beyond Hume lake! A must visit place!!
