The area is large and very beautiful. The lake is pleasant and, in general, there are many activities for children and young people. That was the best part for our toddler. The playground and the pool are very good. The restaurant has simple options, but they are tasty and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The staff at the campsite in general has been doing what they can, because there is clearly a shortage of staff. The campsite area in general is poorly maintained, with tall grass, lots of weeds and the cabins are not well looked after. There are lots of cobwebs, inside and outside the cabins. The bathroom in our cabin had a bad smell and one of the rooms also had a strong smell, probably from a pet that had been there before us. We were very disappointed when we arrived, because it didn't look anything like what we saw on the website. Furthermore, talking to other guests who had experiences at other Huttopia locations, they said that the one in Maine was the least clean.

We had a brilliant stay. Tents are very well equipped, the "small fridge" is a full size European fridge! Beds comfy, internal bathrooms perfect. Few bugs despite the location. Pool warm and well kept. The lake amazing, warm and clear. We had a fun and relaxing stay and would recommend.

The location is nice and overall the campsite is beautiful, like one can see in the photos. But this is definitely not worth the price. You’d be much better off with a hotel room or traditional campground. A few downsides we experienced: 1. Distance from the parking lot to most sites wasn’t short and the path was rocky. Lugging all of our stuff including the firewoods took multiple trips with the wagon, and it was quite a work out to say the least. Also, during check-in time, it was hard to find wagons. 2. When we got to our site, we found the bathroom floor was covered by leaves that fell through the room cracks. 3. Poor maintenance of furniture/equipment: One of the outdoor chairs was broken. The camping light was out of battery and there isn’t any charger in the room. 4. The night was quite cold and the blanket provided were very thin. We were lucky to have brought sleeping bags with us, otherwise it would be a freezing night, especially for the kid. 5. Lastly, according to the check out instructions, we had to take off all sheets, fold the blanket, wash all dishes, sweep the floor, and take all trash out to the dumpster, which is 0.5mi away and you’d need to drive there. For the price that’s more than a night at typical hotels, I would expect much higher quality of service. Will not come back or recommend.

Huttopia was the perfect layover between a long travel day and a high energy wedding in Maine. The property is easy to find, and equipped with everything you need. They have a small shop with Maine made grocery items, beer and wine, and well-curated souvenirs. There were lots of families, but the property is so well spaced that we had peace and quiet. The pond was stunning and the main lodge area had plenty of activities, games, and seating to keep you occupied. Pizza was A+!

We just returned from a two-night stay at Huttopia Southern Maine. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We chose the Trappeur with bathroom, which was really helpful in the mornings and evenings. The beds were incredibly comfortable and we had everything that we needed to unwind and relax. We live in the city and it was great that our seven-year-old son could comfortably ride his bike with his buddy around the property. We had no concerns about safety as all the pathways are pedestrian friendly and cars are not permitted. They have strict quiet hours beginning at 10 PM which I really appreciated. At other campgrounds it’s been hard to enjoy the sounds of nature due to other campers staying up late partying. We enjoyed the pool and the pond area. The pond beach is fairly small and you have to bring your own chairs. It would be nice if they’d get some Adirondack style chairs for people to use. The property is only a 15 minute drive to Kennebunkport shopping, restaurants, and beaches. The main reception/lodge area was full of games. We enjoyed the pizza one night and cooked on our second night. Overall, it was a great experience and we look forward to returning and/or visiting another Huttopia property.
