Very special national forest we are fortunate to have access to this well maintained and beautiful public land. Trees are beautiful and I love the pine trees. Pine trees are not as common in these areas as Tennessee, Georgia and Florida so it is a special treat to be able to enjoy these majestic evergreens here. I understand they are a bit harder to grow here and you can tell the foresters put alot of sweat equity into planting these and now they can be enjoyed for many generations to come. I want to thank the volunteers and wonderful DNR staff who put hard work into Hoosier national forest to make it a great place! You are rock stars!! Thanks from the campers and hikers!! We appreciate you!

The area itself was gorgeous. The park is clean and very well maintained. The nightly rates are affordable and worth it! You can buy firewood at the park entrance for $8 a bundle, as well as ice for $3 a bag. I don't suggest the ice tho, it is a tiny bag and the gas station a few miles down the road has huge bags for $5. Clean bathrooms! The campgrounds are perfect for a weekend away. We spent the weekend in one of the north slope spots and it was great. A lot of the camp sights are wheelchair friendly which is a bonus. We got a spot right next to a bath house and not only was it clean, the tp was thick! I also want to note that the park management and staff were so kind and helpful. Overall my family had a wonderful experience and we will FOR SURE be back again soon!! *Important note* There was poison ivy EVERYWHERE around our camping spot. So if you're even remotely allergic or reactive to it, make sure you check your surroundings or ask for a site that has less wodded area.

Nice park and campground, in south slope loop, showers and bathrooms clean, campsites clean and maintained. Two lakes for fishing, miles of trails. So far only downside is may 1 2018 weather warmed up and the ticks are everywhere. Sitting in camp on gravel and ticks ( dropping from trees? ) appearing from nowhere.

Beautiful hidden gem!! We camped at South Slope in 2014 and decided to come back in 2022. Fished on the lake, but full of weeds. Visited the historic house and hiked on a trail, which could use a bit more signs. Great, quiet place to visit!

Very well maintained... bare bones campground with hot showers and power at most sites...relaxing landscape, some traffic noise but not intolerable...staff does a nice job and quite friendly... sites are rocky, so bring sturdy stakes and a pad to sleep on... beware of poisonous plants and ticks... don't be an asshole! enjoy this place!
