Very unique campground due to the unique geology. Some sites are pull thru and others were pull in parking with little room for much more than a full-size truck or van. The group sites were exceptional with big community fire pit. Closest to town and service which many national park campgrounds don’t have.
Best spot of camping all week! Nestled right in the boulders! Sites were well maintained, fires gave off cool reflections off the rocks. Did some scrambling in Rattlesnake Canyon but only got about a half mile in then we just couldn’t find the trail so we turned back.
Such a perfect spot for climbers or hikers who are not camping in the area. It’s a great location to enjoy Joshua Tree NP without officially entering the park and paying $35. There’s plenty of parking available especially as you turn left near the restroom. If you have more questions, text me on IG @michaelronnett
My wife and I camped here in our tent. The campground offers amazing views, great isolation, and an amazing atmosphere to spend the night in. Our area was surrounded by boulder-strewn mountains that acted as a barricade from noise and wind. The night we camped it was sub 50s, but the lack of wind made it comfortable to sleep in our sleeping bag with an extra layer of clothes. There were no showers or spots in the camp to buy firewood, but there were pit restrooms, dumpsters, tables and firepits! It felt like there was plenty of room and brush between each camp spot, so there was a good amount of privacy. This campground is also only a 15 minute drive from the Joshua Tree town where there is a saloon to eat dinner at, and plenty of awesome shops during the day! There is no cell service out here at the campground, so come prepared for that!
Incredibly gorgeous campground nestled into the beautiful rocks of Joshua Tree. Awe inspiring and breathtaking. Stunning starry night skies. Close to town. A new fave. Vault toilets and picnic tables onsite.
