Beautiful and easy drive up from Darby. Be sure to stop at Nez Perce Pass and the Magruder Ranger Station. Road was clear and well marked. 4WD and high clearance of a pickup helped but probably could have made it without. Campground was completely empty when I stayed. Solitude and peace and a site by the river. Interesting area to explore, including a writeup on the Salmon Hatchery if you cross over the bridge on the far end of the campground. Clean sites, clean bathroom. Clear field in the middle for Starlink wifi access. A storm came through overnight and a few trees down across the road on the way out. Luckily they were small and I could drive over / move by hand. Maybe bring a saw just in case.
Very nice, good exhibit about Pete Fromm's time during "Indian Creek Chronicles".
