Indian Creek Recreation Area Introduce

🌴 **Introduction / Overview**

For Louisiana residents seeking a true escape to the state’s beautiful natural interior, the **Indian Creek Recreation Area** is recognized as one of Central Louisiana’s premier outdoor destinations. Located within the scenic **Alexander State Forest** near Woodworth, this sprawling facility offers a perfect blend of accessible, modern amenities and vast, undeveloped wilderness around the picturesque **Indian Creek Lake** (a 2,250-acre reservoir).

Managed by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF), Indian Creek is known for its size and diversity, boasting over 100 acres of developed recreation space and an additional 250 acres dedicated to primitive camping along more than five miles of lakefront. This makes it an ideal spot for RV owners, tent campers, boaters, and anglers alike.

Customer reviews consistently praise the main campground for its beauty and cleanliness, noting "Beautiful lake and campground for a weekend visit" and the availability of spots "overlooking the water." Boating enthusiasts are particularly thrilled, describing the lake as "Great" for cruising, tubing, and kneeboarding, with a boat launch that is "clean and easily accessible." While one review noted issues in the beach area regarding noise and rules, the overall consensus highlights Indian Creek as a comprehensive, well-maintained hub for family-friendly outdoor recreation in the heart of Louisiana.

Beautiful lake and campground for a weekend visit. There are several beaches that allow for swimming in the lake. The campgrounds are very clean and offer a number of spots overlooking the water. Great Lake for boating. The launch is clean and easily accessible with a suitable pier for tying off. Launch is wide enough for at least two to launch simultaneously and is well maintained. (No algae, well paved, gentle incline). I’ve launched in my 2WD mid-size truck without getting the wheels wet. The lake is big enough to cruise, tube, knee board in the open areas with no concern for a lack of space or excessive boat traffic. If you’re into fishing, there are a number of shallow channels and cuts that allow you to navigate through and around cypress trees in quiet, undisturbed areas.

We enjoyed the camping area. But the beach area was not ideal for a family, loud music with bad language, every rule listed we saw broken! We didn't see anyone patrol the area or I sure any rules were followed. My husband stepped on & removed 4 empty beer cans from the bottom of the lake.

It's our favorite camping site in lousiana. While is may not have your water park amenities, it has old school charm and safety. We do enjoy the peace and quiet we get out here along with a little space for privacy in the shade.

We go here to picnic and enjoy the outdoors. We go fishing and occasionally swimming at the beach areas. The playground area is nice for the kids and teenagers to play and hangout.

I have been camping at Indian creek before the camp ground opened, when the inmates worked here this place was so well maintained, by Friday all camp sites and fire rings were cleaned. I have spent the first 2 hours trying to clean my spot. Now we have golf carts and electric everything that goes faster than 15 mph and kids driving wide open. I still am a fan but don’t like what is happening.
