For an angler seeking a welcoming spot with fantastic fishing, Indian Grove Campground near Coffeen, Illinois, is a true hidden gem. My recent stay was highlighted by the exceptional bait shop located right on-site. It’s well-stocked with everything you could need, and the owner is incredibly friendly and full of helpful local tips, making you feel like a regular from the moment you arrive. The real draw, however, is the fishing on Coffeen Lake. I had an absolute blast out on the water. The bass fishing was particularly noteworthy, with several nice-sized largemouth putting up a good fight. Crappie were also plentiful and of a good size, making for some delicious dinners. For those who enjoy targeting bigger game, the catfish in Coffeen Lake are impressive – I landed a couple of hefty ones that really tested my gear. Adding to the unique atmosphere is the view of the now-decommissioned Coffeen power plant across the lake. While no longer operational, it stands as a cool and interesting landmark, especially when viewed from a boat at sunrise or sunset. The campground itself offers convenient access to the lake, and the combination of great facilities, a top-notch bait shop, friendly management, and incredible fishing action makes Indian Grove Campground a destination I’ll be returning to. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing and rewarding fishing getaway.
Great people very nic and very clean great fishing
My last 4 visits to my property on Indian Grove campground were very disturbing. Apparently, entering property illegally and vandalizing others' belongs isn't a safety or security concern here I've reported the first two incidents, mngt didn't care and it's gotten worse. I'm a single woman who thought was going to have a peaceful relaxing summer at the lake with no worries? Wrong, I'm now terrified to stay at my own property alone knowing strangers have entered my place and for what?? From my first visit I've taken picture upon arrival and departure that shows what was damaged and the last visit quite a few items of theirs were left. Evidence, but nobody seems to care? There could be camers set up in my place for all i know. Im so disappointed 😞 gonna have to sell and find a place where I won't feel threatened to stay alone. Whew,
My family went here and had a great time. I didn't catch any fish but I suck at fishing. The kids caught plenty. What really did it for me was the people. The people here were so friendly and neighborly. Unfortunately, we didn't know if our camper was watertight and a storm was coming so we had to leave kinda late and didn't get to tell everyone good bye. Will definitely go back.
Love this place . Biggest catfish I have ever caught . So relaxing
