I’ll rate this as someone living in an RV fulltime without children and know that state parks are popular for families with small children especially on weekends. We thoroughly enjoyed the park grounds, lots of trails to hike, my favorite was Ballard Lake. The campground is small and when full can feel crowded depending on your site. I recommend the outer edge sites, those in the center are less private and surround an open area where lots of families hang out for big get-togethers. We were there on a weekend and it was full, with a big family reunion going on. BUT, it was extraordinarily quiet! People were very respectful of quiet hours. Camphosts kept the place clean. Just a lovely park all around. Sites were well maintained and level, except for #48 which has a severe down slope, I pointed it out in a photo.

Gorgeous, small TN State Park campground. Lake with Mountain View’s. Well maintained, and 2 playgrounds, at the campground, 2 at the SP. Paddle boat rentals, volleyball, basketball court, trails and Disc Golf. Each site is FHU, and has picnic table and fire-ring. Sites are concrete, our site was partially shaded. Firewood can be purchased at the camp-store. Bathroom and bathhouse is clean. All of the many Trash cans with lids, emptied daily. Staff and rangers are amazing! Interpretive Ranger Natalie, is so awesome with the kids. Scheduled activities where they made crafts, she shared the campground pet snake, made s’mores, and was knowledgeable sharing information about the Junior Ranger Program with the children and families.

My favorite place. This is the site of an old coal surface mine. So if you like history this is a good place to visit. Clean shower house. Nice trails.
