We stayed the weekend at the campground for the first time this past weekend. Long story short, we had a good time, but there could be a lot of improvements as well. Read on for details. The positives..It is a very cool place with plenty to do. It is kid-friendly. It was super easy taking the trolly to Indiana Beach and back. The sites were large and clean. It was not overly wooded. The camp store was awesome and had everything we needed. The negatives..the bathhouses didn’t receive much attention during our stay. The floors stayed muddy and slick the whole time. They were so bad that my 5 year old told me to bring a potty chair next time so she doesn’t have to use them again. We also ran in to stalls without toilet paper several times. Then there was the noise level. It is more of a wild crowd than what I’ve seen in other campgrounds. Golf carts blasting rap music, people up hollering until 2-3am (the quiet time wasn’t enforced), and 7 police cars showed up on Saturday night for some sort of disturbance in the back of the park. The sites in the back were definitely the loudest/craziest. I don’t think it’d be a great area for people that like their peace and quiet. My son hit his head at the splash pad and had a pretty nasty bump from it. The lifeguard had disappeared about 5 minutes before, and we never saw her again. Or any lifeguard for that matter. The day before, a little girl busted her mouth open at the splash pad and the male lifeguard working just sat there and watched everyone else helping her. My friend had to go ask him for the first aid kit he had. The camp store cashier clearly didn’t enjoy her job and was cursing at her malfunctioning cash register the whole time I was in line. Lastly and maybe most frustrating was visitor parking. You’re only allowed 1 vehicle per site and all others have to park in a small grass area by the office. However, there were never any spots available. This only left a small parking lot in front of the office, but when we parked there, we and several others received parking violations telling us to park at our sites, where we were also told we couldn’t park (we had more than 1 vehicle). We did have a safe, good time but would need to see some improvement before we booked again.

Electric for our campsite was broken, and they sent someone right away to fix it. I am very pleased with that service. Only 3 stars because the campsite itself is busy, crowded, and loud. The front gate was barely functioning, and we didn'tget much help from staff with that, and the check-in staff weren't great. Our kids loved the splash pad, which was very clean. Really wish they would have had a fenced-in dog area. The nearby amusement park is very old and not clean, but our kids loved that as well.

07/26/24, at around 9:40 pm, I met my family here who was already set up during the night hours. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I didn’t know how to get checked in exactly as I followed the signs that stated where check in was, but when I tried to get through, there was a gate that needed a barcode pass to allow me through. I did not know this as I was used to campsites having this gated area where guards would come out and help you by the gate. I tried to back up since I didn’t see anyone to help me and then finally someone came out of the security guard building right in front of me to see what was going on. I let this older gentleman know that my family was at the campsite and I was wondering how I can go about finding them. He said I needed a pass in order to get in. I asked if my mother will be able to get me with her pass and he rudely said that if she did that I would be ripping them off and that I would need to pay $10 for a pass to go in. Mind you, there was free overflow parking that they did not inform me about in the same area. This man did not give me any other options besides park and go inside this office building to buy myself a parking pass. Let me also mention how each parking site is allowed only one vehicle. If I were to attempt to buy this pass, they would either not allow me to or I would be buying a pass I could not use due to this new rule of theirs. This older gentleman was not helpful and made me feel belittled by how he was speaking to me. I let this man know I have no intentions in trying to rip them off and thanked him for his help. As I was backing out, I was holding up traffic and a lady worker in a golf cart made a comment about the “traffic jam”. Due to my upset feelings, I told her that if I would’ve received help earlier from the many workers in the security building not seeming to do their job, there would have been no traffic jam. I parked and waited for my mother to come and bring me a pass she ended up purchasing for me prior to my arrival. My overall camping experience after that was great though it did take me some time to calm down after, what I felt was, a very rude and inconsiderate interaction with this security guard who works a job where patience and understanding should be extended to all guest. I hope this worker can get a talking to and work on treating future guests no matter who they are with patience and understanding. On a positive note, I appreciated how the trolley to the park would go through the campsites to take us straight to the entrance of the park. There’s many different campground potential for tents, campers, trailers, ect. The roads are bumpy but I was able to drive our golf cart without feeling like I was unsafe. When we left on Sunday a little after check out, there was a kind older gentleman who offered to scan our parking passes to leave the premises. I appreciated his character and politeness and was happy to see not all of the workers at this camp were rude.

In a sentence: flithy campground with highly questionable/violent guests; it is only worth camping here to get the discount to the IB park. Pro's- Close to Indiana Beach. They have a shuttle that takes you to the park but the park is within walking distance. Huge discount on tickets as long as you stay 2 nights. Staff are reasonably polite considering they have to deal with Karen's all day. Con's- campground is filthy. The bathrooms are never cleaned. There was feces smeared all over the counters and sinks in the bathhouse all weekend. They have police stationed at the campground all night due to the demographic of people who cannot control their violent nature. There is no "quiet time" at night. Quiet time is not enforced and loud music, yelling and all other regular shenanigans can be heard all through the night. Full hook-up clearly does not mean the same thing to this campground. There is no sewer line. There was no fire pit/ring. Only a shabby charcoal grill. The people who stay here are a mix of all walks of life but many do not have respect for others. The literal criminal activity kept us from sleeping at night. Not talking about the smell of a bit of reefer every now and again, I'm talking about violent activity. We will not stay here again. If we make a reservation here, it will be only to get the discounted passes. We would still save money for this reason alone.
