Had a great experience camping here for spring break. We stayed in site 215 and I was really impressed with the bathrooms in the campground as well as the plethora of boating options they had (including a flamingo and rubber duck paddleboat lol). The headquarters and gift shop were separate which I’m not used to with TX state parks but you can tell this is one of their bigger parks and more maintenance/resources have been put into improving it. Hiking trails were good, all ranked easy to moderate, although there should be some parking area added for those who want to hike the woodland trail without starting at the pecan flats trail. We didn’t swim since it was too cold but my kids put their feet in and said it wasn’t too bad. We will have to come back sometime and take advantage of the water

This review is for the dump station when using a dump buddy ONLY (we're very pleased with the campground/park otherwise). We've been full-timing a good long while and this is the worst dump station I've ever seen for using a dump buddy/tote. There is a 5" curb around the dump, and the dump itself is further recessed another 3-4" below ground level. The result of this design is that you have to pull your tote up over the curb and wrestle it into a position where you can dump without making a mess. The rinse faucet is really close to the dump hole, making this process even harder. My tote is 36gals, and when full is 300lbs. It would have been nice in a campground where there are no sewer hookups at the sites that the designers of this relatively new dump station would have considered that folks would be using totes and designed at least one of the 3 dumps to accommodate a tote.

Loved it and will be back! Bathrooms are clean and definitely check for the burn ban. Watch out for the raccoons and squirrels 😆 they absolutely will steal stuff.

Lovely lakeside cabin and nice rocky canyon walk to Devils Waterhole. Deer, fishing, and nice restrooms.

Great park, $23 / night versus many other that are $15-18, but younger way much more space and nature here than most of other parks. Cavern is a great place to go too.
