Location and Accessibility

The Iola Car Show Campgrounds are strategically located at E2196 Johanson Rd, Iola, WI 54945, USA. This address places the campgrounds directly on the vast Iola Car Show grounds, ensuring unparalleled access to the event itself. Iola is a small village in Waupaca County, Wisconsin, known primarily for hosting this world-renowned car show.

The campgrounds are situated on the south end of the Iola Car Show grounds, with a dedicated entrance off State Highway 49. This direct access helps manage traffic flow during the busy event days. For those traveling from across Wisconsin or even neighboring states, Iola is accessible via state highways, with clear signage directing visitors to the show grounds and campgrounds during the event period. While Iola itself is a smaller community, its road infrastructure is well-equipped to handle the influx of visitors during the car show, making travel to the campgrounds relatively straightforward. The convenience of being able to walk or take a complimentary shuttle directly from your campsite to the show activities is a significant advantage of this prime location.

Services Offered

The Iola Car Show Campgrounds are designed to accommodate a large volume of campers attending the annual event, offering a range of services focused on convenience and comfort during the show. Keep in mind that these services are primarily available during the multi-day car show event (typically in July).

  • Spacious Campsites: The campgrounds offer a variety of spacious spots suitable for everything from tent camping to oversized RVs. Sites vary in size, including 20'x30', 20'x50', 20'x60' pull-thru, and large 20'x100' sites for oversized units. This ensures there's room for almost any camping setup.

  • Hookup Options: While many sites are non-electric, the campgrounds do offer some sites with water and electric hookups (30-amp and 50-amp service), though these are highly sought after and often sell out. It's advisable to check availability and register early for these spots.

  • Clean Restrooms and Showers: A key highlight mentioned by campers is the commitment to cleanliness. The campgrounds provide shower facilities, water points, pit restrooms, and numerous portable restrooms, all reportedly kept clean and well-stocked by staff and volunteers.

  • On-Site Food Vendors: Food is readily available, with options at "the barn" and other vendor tents throughout the show grounds, ensuring campers have convenient access to meals and snacks without needing to leave the area.

  • Free Shuttle Service: Complimentary shuttle services run frequently from the campgrounds to the main car show grounds, typically from early morning (e.g., 6:00 a.m.) until early evening (e.g., 7:00 p.m.) during the main show days (Thursday through Saturday). This eliminates the need to move your vehicle once set up.

  • Designated Generator Areas: For those needing to run generators, there are specific areas within the campground that allow 24-hour generator use. Other areas have designated quiet times (e.g., 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.) to ensure peace for all campers.

  • Fire Policy: Self-contained fires are generally allowed, weather permitting, allowing campers to enjoy traditional campfire experiences. Campers are advised to bring their own fire rings, as they can sometimes sell out.

  • On-Site Registration: Day-of registration for camping is available starting on a specific date before the show, with plenty of spaces typically available, though pre-registration for certain sites (like water/electric) is encouraged.

  • Vintage Camping Area: A special "Vintage Camping" section is available for older campers (1975 & older), adding a unique thematic element for classic vehicle enthusiasts.

  • Water Points: Scattered water points are available throughout the campground for general use, making it easier to fill water containers.

They keep the facilities (bathrooms, showers, port -a-potties) clean and stocked. Grounds are clean. Also great that they've got food at the barn, for those of us who forget to bring our own 😬😅 Spots are very spacious. Bring your own fire ring tho, sometimes they sell out.

Fun location great staff too, the only problem is many other campers are to crabby, worry far to much on others placement. very disrespectful to others, And dogs! Who in the hell would let their dogs run around and disrupt other campers that can control their dog, unleashed walking around at that too. The campgrounds need to do better on controlling nuisance animals and there owners! The uncontrolled use of mini bikes with under aged drivers with no saftey helmets running around like it was a race track. really! They get hurt or hurt others wont be good for nobody!! These 2 things were the worst we experienced there! We traveled 6 hours to enjoy the show not a unruly dog and pony show, a car show. Hope the Iola staff will control these unruly dog owners and the other disruptive clown displays! A little concerning on making the drive again with other car/camping friends.
