Iron Creek Campground

Camping with one of my daughter to see Mt St Helen's. Great camping area. Price was a little steep. BUT, the camp hosts were very nice, easy trails around the grounds, couple old growth trees still standing. Lots to marvel on. I'd go back any time.

Three stars reflects the original site we reserved (site 77 on loop D) photo below for reference. Location and hosts I would give 10 stars if I could! Couldn’t find a whole lot of photos on individual sites and even resorted to a few camping groups online to get some insight. Unfortunately, site 77 was more of a picnic area than a full camping site. There was no dedicated tent pad area and the largest area wasn’t big enough for our four person tent. The tent was essentially set up next to the fire pit (meaning we wouldn’t have been comfortable having one going with sparks that close) and the area we set up was on a slope with very brittle dirt so the stakes didn’t stay in. Zero privacy — it was completely open and on the road that goes through the loop. We set up our two camp chairs, and only had a cooler and a black tote with cooking equipment and really felt like we were at a park to picnic versus spending three nights camping. We went for a walk through the campground and saw so many empty but reserved spaces that were much larger and private, which was disappointing. Luckily, as the hosts were riding through and introducing themselves to new campers they stopped to see if we were good. We gently mentioned how the space is tiny and we weren’t able to secure our tent properly and that it just felt very open. They fully agreed and wished that the site was dedicated for RVs instead of tents (as there is no room for one). My partner mentioned a site opposite of us and we vacant (they had a full week rental and no showed) and the hosts were more than happy to let us switch up. We were so relieved! They came back a bit later and asked how the new site was and we couldn’t be more grateful. The location is spectacular. Definitely reminiscent of Olympia with the rainforest vibe and mossy trees. The river was STUNNING to relax at and take a dip (very cold but in 95 degree weather we loved it) and all the trails along the campground were well kept and magical. I didn’t walk through the entire property but if you are looking at loop D avoid site 75 & 77. Bathrooms were spotless and stocked and you could tell the hosts were really dedicated to ensuring everyone had what they needed.

We tried camping at omahapecosh but unfortunately all the first come first serve were full. Luckily we found this campground only 35 minutes from where we were and it also had first come first serve. We got lucky because there was only one open spot left that was not reserved! It’s a dog friendly campground. They have fire rings and picnic tables. No playgrounds though. Things to note: - no showers - no flushable toilets but they do have restrooms with pit toilets (I think that’s what you call them lol, honey bucket style) - not swimmable unless you’re an expert swimmer as it’s a fast river. Things we loved: - it’s very peaceful and quiet - the sites are not crammed next to each other so you get some privacy - they have potable water spigots - trails that lead to different spots of the river - LOTS of MOSSY TREES! :) - they do clean the restrooms throughout the day but bring a poop spray just in case as it gets very stinky when it hasn’t been cleaned The camp hosts were VERY friendly and informative! :) Things to do near by: - Go out the camp and turn left, go all the way straight for some beautiful views! Be sure to stop where you’ll see lots of cars parked, walk down the trail and check out the beautiful waterfall with super clear waters. - if you have time to spare, leave super early to go see Mt St Helen’s! (The roads up that way are VERY rough and lots of turns and going uphill so please be careful) 10/10 would return and recommend!

Favorite campsite. So peaceful and gorgeous with so much tree coveage. It has recovered so well from the fire last year. We have been here so many times throughout the years and it will stay a family favorite.

This campground is Awesome! My husband and I stayed for 4 days and it was the most peaceful and beautiful place to relax. The trails around the campground were gorgeous, the bathrooms were EXCELLENTLY maintained and all the people seemed friendly and respectful. The entire campground is very kid and pet friendly. The camp spots were all so nicely maintained, but yet so natural. Our spot turned out to be a little small for us and all of our stuff, but we made it work and loved it!! We will be back and next time we will just pick a bigger spot.
